Last year I adopted two young cats that were rescued from being dog toys at a couple weeks of age. They're brothers and have very different personalities. The smaller guy has always been the dominant one even though his brother is now about a pound and a half heavier. The smaller one is also ambivalent about affection, only accepting it on his terms. I can hold him for about ten seconds before he HAS to get down. His brother could happily spend the rest of his life being held.
