Nissan taking care of CVT owners, warranties doubled...

I've never been in a CVT equipped Nissan but they seem quite badass on paper. Is it worth the hype?

All a CVT is, is a "Constant Variable Transmission". It's a metal flexible band between two sliding pulleys.

All it is, is a different way to transfer power from the engine to the drive axle(s) of the car. It is nothing special. It has been around for a long time. It made its first appearance on the Italian Vespa motorized scooters.

Yeah, I was aware of their existence, just wondering how it worked out on such mass produced vehicles.

It's awful. Smooth, no shift-shock, boring. I always put mine into manual mode so it's at least tolerable.

A few people on some of the other Nissan boards have reported that their transmissions crapped out around the 36k mark.
