it's crazy how cheap tv's are getting. 10 years ago that would have been 5,000 easily lol

Samsung has 2 and Vizio has 2 that I am looking at. may take a ride out to best buy and wally world tonight to stare/compare random models.

Yeah, sharp does tend to be a bit higher.
the IR receiver blew up? never heard of that before.

i literally watched it shoot out a few sparks and then burn slightly. TV worked fine, but manually changing inputs, channels, and volume became beyond daunting.

i forget which one we bought for the living room a few yrs back, but it was like less than 1/3 of wat i thought it would be.

I've been able to fix a number of TVs and monitors over the years using that method. I've fixed ones from 6 months old to 10 years old. Works every time. I usually replace most every capacitor (I don't mess with the big ones though - they'll mess you up if you're not careful to discharge them properly). It costs about ~$13 including shipping typically

It's the DU/SD board within the unit. It's a known flaw of the tv apparently. Stupid boards are sold out everywhere and even then they cost $600. The board basically fried itself it sounds like.

i have the audio hooked up to my small sony stereo. while it's only got 2 channels i still get nice audio spread and dimension.

i use to have a prologic system back like 20yrs ago. i should probably make a THX someday soon..

is THX wat u guys use these days?

ive been away from hometheater for over a decade..

the last i worked on was AC3..

I just need 120hz for no motion blur and input lag under 5ms for gaming. LED or LCD, doesn't matter to me. Could care less about 4k content or stereoscopic 3D or even smart features. 50+ inches and beveled inputs since I use flush wall mounts.

yah i dont play games on my 22", but motion blur was the biggest concern for me too.

no issue watching tv and movies.
