this Japan business killed some of my stocks, starting to come back though. I sold my apple just before it went way down and re-bought when it was about 10 pts lower than what i sold so i did pretty good on that one |

I've always wanted to do some investing, but the process always frustrates me. It's like a foreign language. Is e-Trade or other online sites really that easy to get started?

Understanding what to invest in and how to study companies and take chances on speculative companies is much much harder. You can be safe with large companies and not lose too much money and you will most likely make some. But the smaller riskier plays will make you more. I really do suggest watch Jim Cramers show on cnbc. He at least explains how to look at companies and the market in general. I dont suggest taking all his advice but he does make it kinda simple. |

I inherited a broker from my father with a beneficiary IRA that has a decent amount in it, but not huge. He manages it and I use blind faith. He was great for my dad, and its money I never had anyways.
My 401k, I do mostly index funds, but the broker helped me allocate a little better than I was doing. I understand all the ins and outs of the market, but don't have the time or interest, other than putting 20% of my pay away every month.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that PM'd me regarding interest. Our facility does mean a lot to the girls. I wanted to clarify about my "pregnancy" comment. Seems like maybe I did offend a few folks out there. We have several 14 y/o girls who have older siblings that are already raising little ones. They got pregnant when they were in high school. I'm sure that I don't have to tell everyone here that South Texas has amongst the highest preteen/teen pregnancy rate. I know that TS3 can't prevent little girls from getting themselves pregnant; however, I believe that if at least we can give them somewhere to go and something to do other than doing that, well, at least we are doing something. I also have 4 daughters. I can attest that I would do anything for them. I may not attend a professional basketball game, but I would definitely drop 50 bucks so they could participate in a year around sports program that not only develops their athletic skills but also develops their integrity and work ethic as well. Thanks again for everyone's support.

Just a quick a follow-up. Wanted to let everyone know that our facility finally got an investor. We are going to order our machines this week. Exciting times for the kids! We also got someone to finance the exercise equipment as well. It's amazing how things just fall into place if you think positive!
On a side note, next to our facility is "The Soldier's Angels". Since we are across the highway from Brooke Army Medical Center, we have gotten some interest from different organizations that support wounded war veterans. I just want to say that we will not charge anyone in the armed forces to use our facility, ESPECIALLY the ones that have been wounded in action. "The Soldier's Angels" is doing a great thing for these soldiers and I am so proud that we can give them something to do and somewhere to go that will give them a break from reality. I come from a family of military veterans and my brother is currently serving in the army. It really makes you think about how awesome our country is and how wonderful the people are that make it so. Anyway, just thought I'd share. God Bless America!!
