Absolutely broke my heart. He is not a young impetuous kid either. Almost my age (50). Made one bad decision and now has to live with the fact that he caused another man's death as well as the possibility for a very long prison sentence.
I can't see how someone can rationalize driving to a bar to have drinks with the full intention of driving home. For me, if I plan on going to a bar at all, I don't plan on driving home.

OP, your friend's insurance rates are going to go through the roof. I can't say I feel sorry for him though . . .

I'm with you on that one. I normally don't drink when I'm out of my house. But if I do, is because my wife is with me and she can drive me home or I just don't go out drinking.
I don't even go out with buddies to drink because I have seen it time after time where the DD is the one that ends up more drunk than the ones that were supposed to drink.
