Deep Growly Exhaust
Hi I am looking for an exhaust system for 09 sport. I am looking for a system that will create a very deep, growly sound. I have Stillen G3 intake, Ark non resonating HFC's for the car but just need the exhaust yet. So I was wondering which exhaust would be the best for what I want it to sound like. The two exhaust's that I really love is the Saclam and GT Haus systems. Of course those two are somewhat on the higher end for exhaust systems. I just can't quite justify the price of these. If anybody has any suggestions for me to get close to this sound for under $1500, or if anyone has one of these exhaust systems they want to sell, that would be awesome. Let me know.

Before all the fanboys jump in............Fast Intentions exhaust. :excited:
Search for the many sound clips out there. Sure, hearing over the speakers is not the same as in person, but this will give you an idea on several choices. |

Long time member Alcheng shared this link in his thread .... I think you will find it very helpful. I'm going FI. :excited: |
hey thanks for the info, I have seen those videos. The F.I does sound pretty bitchin' for the price, but I really don't like how they hang on the car.
|
I've always been a huge fan of exoticspeed , and just picked up ARK grip . But search is right there's more than a few
|
that Saclam sounds wicked though. Too bad I spent too much money on a Classy Hoe for christmas.

Tell you what. I will sell you a packaged deal. Ipod, Speakers to mount under the back bumper with amp, and a personal Growly sound made by me. All for $550.00. It will be the best Growly exhaust you have ever heard.

Nismo take-off H pipe + any resonated test pipes + mufflerless tails.
Minimal cost, massive growl, decent gains and limited rasp. |
Hell I thinking about selling my F.I. exhaust and getting an Amytrix Exhaust...
|
I have never heard of Armytrix before. I did find some sound clips and I like it. That is definitely a contender. I don't quite understand the valvetronic though. I will have to do some research.

add another $600 to your tab though for a tune. with intakes and HFCs adding a CBE should be tuned. |

Does anyone know how or where to get the Saclam exhaust?
|
well I contacted a Saclam dealer in Japan and they said it would cost roughly $1500 to ship it over here plus obviously the cost of exhaust which is roughly $2500. But Saclam themselves said that they are in the process of importing them to a U.S. dealer but I doubt it will bring the price down too much. :crying:

If only I wanted to waste that much on an exhaust.
|
Borla sounds amazing! and has been making exhausts for decades, unlike most of the other brands mentioned in this thread. it's a true dual exhaust and has a H-pipe, which helps provide that deep throaty growl your looking for. Everyone has a FI CBE, break away from the heard. Oh and it comes with a million mile warranty.

Muffler shop/custom xpipe, 18" resonators, top speed axlebacks.....
I guess I need to post a video to you non believers on custom exhausts. :stirthepot: |

X-pipes are generally raspier and louder than H and have been shown to provide slightly more power than their counterparts. You are likely to see most of the power gains higher in the rpm band with an X-pipe. An H-pipe is better at balancing sound and produces a more consistent, classic muscle car growl. It does less than an X-pipe in the way of balancing exhaust gasses but still flows quite well. H-pipes maintain the back-pressure necessary for torque gains earlier in the rpm band, as opposed to the top-end power seen from an X-pipe. |
I had an exotic speed system with an R2C intake. That gave it it a real mean growl. Almost a snarl at WOT. Loved it

I dont know anything about the H pipe though even though at the muffler shop I was told the X pipe would be a better setup of my Z. He does this for a living and very good at what he does and after hearing my exhaust the first time afterwards I was extremely happy. Plenty of options OP and a lot of excellent setups for the Z including custom if you so desire. |
The Nismo exhaust uses an H-pipe configuration. I tend to agree with Nismo, that the Z needs more low-end torque and the sound of an H-pipe is more appealing to me. I don't think Nismo did that for exhaust note sound though because the difference is insignificant compared to the stock exhaust on a base model.

Thread should have ended with the Motordyne Shockwave.
Deeper sounding than the Fast Intentions. |
The fact that it's almost $600 over the OP's budget makes it sort of an irrelevant option.

$1100 for brand new FI exhaust with none of the regular wait time is a steal. out performs and sounds better than any other option especially for the price. end thread. |
oops, thread's still goin. personally think the FI sounds like garbage. OP your best bet is to ignore what everyone has to say, take their suggestions, listen to the clips (or preferably in person if you can), and decide for yourself.

However, to stay on topic, even the AAM midpipe + tails + test pipes will still give you a deeper tone than F.I. |
|
Save up a month or two and get yourself a Motordyne!
Edit:  |
Not the best for revs, but is a very good example of what an ExoticSpeed system sounds like at idle...

I'm surprised Borla doesn't get more love. Or from what I've seen at least. |
Everyone says FI, so im thinking of going with them. But nearly a 3-4 month wait time.
|
Not everyone.
