No the first guy that polished them low profiled the shaft. Its good enough.

Well I think either way a TB that's ported going into a ported plenum could potentially see some gains with a tune of course. What was the final price for just the max bore and not the first company that you had them shipped out to? I don't feel like looking back 10 pages lol

I hope so. $198.

potentially see some gain ?
hehe

let just pretend I didn't gain an average of 7-9whp which was proved twice back to back on the dyno couple year ago :ugh2:

edit , since you wont be doing a search , that was done with a custom CAI & bigger maf tube but there is some aftermarket intake that are even a bit bigger ( Nismo one I heard was like 2.75'' at the MAF ?)
and no ported intake manifold like it is now.

FuTuRe is Z 06-09-2014 02:30 AM

Could you recap which TBs these are; 350z or 370z? Also I'm really considering mimicking your TB build and pairing it with the Z1 mani (or GTR if a kit every comes out from a reliable vendor).

Would I be able to send my TBs to maxbore and have them produce the same product, what exactly would I ask for?

I only have g3's. I don't have the same intakes you had custom made so there could be a nice little difference there between you and I.

370; 350de won't work without modding. 350hr are same as ours. Just look on his site, every self-explanatory.

How many of you would replace the lower manifold to head metal gasket? They're $21 each from nissan.

Rid3_FaM0uS 06-15-2014 12:32 PM

Are they warped in any way syno?

Haven't pulled them yet. Or do you mean the manifold? But either way the crunching effect can only happen once so...

Bananaz 06-15-2014 10:58 PM

Metal gasket I would replace.

Syno who will be responsible for tuning your car after the TB modification and IM modification. I'd imagine it'll be a rough idle until a tuning issue is resolved.

synolimit 06-16-2014 02:48 PM

TB's have a idle screw. My tuner works at ips for now.

synolimit 06-21-2014 02:18 AM

talked to my tuner today. looks like next saturday will be the tune as of right now. however since the porter gave me issue and money here and there i just told him to do a regular old tune and dyno. ill show up with the parts already installed and just go from there. since ill control the dyno settings ill make sure my runs are the same settings and such as in september 2013, august 2013, and next saturday. with a dynojet and the same correction factor, the correction numbers should all give the same numbers as if all runs were done on the say day even though weather changes. for reference ill post the first 2 dynos ive done there so you can see where the car was at in the very beginning, middle and end. wish me luck i get in, get tuned, and come out ahead!

I don't know why I thought you had a second pair of unmodified HR/VHR Throttle body to do that testing of before/after to make sure most variable are the same .
You are just going there with the bored TB , right ?

good luck on the result !!

I do, my OEM are still on the car. I have all 4 spare parts ported and waiting to go on the day before the tune.

ZKraken22 06-21-2014 09:10 AM

So you have the obx long tube headers?

Eclipz 06-21-2014 10:04 AM

Excited for results.

I say yes, Garage Line says no who sold it to me. They said "its was custom made for them" haha, yeah right.

I remember that sale should have picked those up

yeah from the graph you can see they picked up some nice power without even getting tuned. TP's could have done the same thing possible for a little cheaper but i wont complain for $350 and just leave them.

Tuner got a job in California. Before he heads out he's doing some group tuning before hand. The new date looks to be July 7th :(

Juan@Fontana 06-23-2014 10:53 AM

looking forward to the results, I miss my VQHR

I dont care if I dont have the VVEL anymore but I really wonder how the gain will be on your engine. Wish it included a before/after on the same day but I hope that dyno proved to be reading the same as last year when you went there!

July 7th is almost there !!! :yum:

Well since he moved it back and everyone wants to see I might do a before and after, just waiting on price or dyno schedule to see if I can get an hour swap time.

synolimit 06-28-2014 12:50 PM

Update first page.

synolimit 06-28-2014 10:12 PM

Just went for a test drive. Surprised it went great. I thought the TB's would need the idle screw adjusted but it drove 100%. Good to know when you need to drive to the tuners.

synolimit 06-29-2014 11:08 AM

No call, no show on the tuner. **** this!

LNATKFRNG 06-29-2014 12:34 PM

7th?

synolimit 06-29-2014 01:32 PM

I'll be finding another. I'll do a 3 pull dyno run so I have a before and after on the IPS dyno later since that's where I started.

megalapagas 06-29-2014 02:29 PM

GL syno I'm oretty sure your gonna get some outstanding results bro!

Juan@Fontana 06-30-2014 12:46 PM

so how is the driving impression with the parts bolted on prior to tuning?

which is good because if you would have adjusted the "idle screws" the TB would have been in the dtc range of voltage and you would be buying a new set.

Like I said, it feels 100% stock and with so many bolt-ons I don't have a good feeling punching it. However just getting up and going a little not trying to go into open loop, it does feel like its snappier. Like at 1000-3400rpm it feels smooth then at 3500rpm it almost feels like a little turbo kick. Nothing much but a little peppier. I'm very pessimistic when it comes to mods and I try to be very objective since so many people add a part on then come on here and go "I gained a million HP", "my cars on rails now!" And all they did was add a sway bar or CBE. So any positive out of me is amazing haha. Just need to dyno now!!!

PS, I might dyno it as is since they'll have a wide band and be able to read knock. That why we can at least see the before and after of the tune.

lj909 06-30-2014 02:18 PM

Awesome thread Syno! Awesome work!

Eclipz 06-30-2014 03:30 PM

You have a custom CAI right? One that matches your TB?

Yeah it's custom.

Not really matching. The TB is 2.48" at its smallest ID point. On that is Z1 post tubes which go around the TB and any 2.5" OD pipe so I'd say their ID is more like 2.6". The sections of 2.5" OD pipe (like stillens cai) and oem MAF section are only 2.35" ID. Then like the MAF post tubes there's more silicon sections that will be 2.6" ID. So it's basically a roller coaster from start to finish.

It's always in closed loop. There are target AFR maps at all load levels.

That doesn't mean you don't need a tune, but it shouldn't run consistently lean or rich -- it should attempt to trim towards the target, which on the OEM maps is around 11.9 at full tilt.

Head to the dyno!
