The washer fluid is not a huge deal to me, as if I go Injen I will probably just remove the washer fluid anyways.

Might be true, but does hood close create artificial results that are not real?

No, I think your hood closed results are real. I do beleive the high IATs (drawing hot air from under the hood) reduce power. I will set up the scan gauge to read ignition timing and air fuel ratio adjustment to see if
the relatively high IATs indeed negatively affect these values (running rich and
retard timing)

Sounds good, thanks for looking into this. My dyno results showed my AF was lower than stock which the guy at the shop I was getting my dyno done said resulted in the lower HP.

Living in Chicago, this is not an option, I need washer fluid :-)

True, and it seems the Stillen have proven gains above that of Injen and after Takeda I am buying the best HP (unless it is not reliable).

So if I'm not mistaken this means you were running rich, resutling in less power.

Yes, I was in the 10-11s AF, where stock was closer to 11-12.

Any idea of whether Takeda is producing Heat Shields for these now?

m4a1mustang 03-23-2010 01:40 PM

Unless they are full enclosures like the factory boxes heat shields will not matter.

kdo2milger 09-23-2010 04:10 AM

no, takeda refuses to believe their product is designed porely (no heat shields) :shakes head:

 of course you can get good gains with the hood open and a giant fan blowing fresh air directly into the engine bay Takeda!, this is how Takeda tested these on a dyno. real world with the hood closed and the fact that the engine bay is very well sealed off from the top and front bottom half. thus no air movement other than the small holes that the stock air filter boxes hooked up to...i.e. not enough air flow.

bottom line is, all these are good for is raising the sound bar up a notch...my ecm had a hellova time adjusting to these crappers in the mid texas heat of the summer too...

ill be replacing these pos's with ingens soon...

new thread will be started for that install

Why bother even posting out of focus pictures?

You think I'm complaining?

I was just asking a very simple question. Don't get all wound up over it.
