Btw, Alex, did you have a LOT of oil in your intake manifold? Because when I took mine off and put it on the counter it had like 2 tablespoons of oil in it...

So in this case, an oil catch can would be beneficial? Most guys on here say for NA a catch can is not worth it....

Sorry for all the questions, this thread has turned into my personal Q/A session lol

No prob for all the questions, and NOT A DAMN THING... The ONLY put the oil burning valve (PCV valve) going back into the engine for emissions
On another note, feel free to text me anytime (310)eight nine three-4207

Sounds awesome. Rasp is still there, but the pitch is lower and deeper. I'm sure once the TP's and headers are broken in, it will subside, it did after a few weeks on mine. CG's on the install

Mine never broke in. Then again I had a non resonated exhaust, tons of rasp. I switched over to a Litespeed exhaust which has 3 large resonators on it, no more rasp, nice deep sound.

Huck 02-25-2013 05:55 PM

That thing sounds beast!

The headers were used, so they might already be broken in. My FI CBE is non-res, so I expected rasp. I honestly just did not want to wait 6 months or however long it is for a new one, so I bought used. I'm going to put an order in for a resonated one after I get the suspension brakes and oil cooler squared away, and just sell this one on the forums. I love the sounds, its brutal and in your face, and at the same time its not obnoxious like people with fart pipes. From the 2 days I had it on the road, I turned a lot of heads. I was stopped in traffic under an over pass and a mustang GT was next to me... He revved his engine a little, so i took her up to 3500 RPM. He went higher, so I hit my rev limiter in at 5k. He smiled and gave a thumbs up, and i gave him a nod. Meanwhile a scion behind us was tacking his sh*t out lol. So I took it right to 7k... Should have seen the mustang drivers face. We were both smiles from ear to ear. I am guessing he thought my 5k rev was the max... Anyway, aside from the who's penis is larger thing, I feel very accomplished doing the install myself. I am not bad at mechanical stuff, just no real experience, until now, with auto.

Very huge shout out to all those who helped me through this. Without the support of you all, I probably would have given up.

To those reading this thread, thinking about doing the install yourself... Be warned, its not an easy task. But I believe with enough time, patients, and willpower, it can be done by almost anyone who is willing to get a little dirty, scarred, and discouraged. If you have the time, and tools i say go for it! You will curse me once you get to the hard stuff, but will be like "that Alex guy was right" once you get it done.

You could just buy some 2.5" resonators and have welded in. Summit racing sales a bunch of different brands and sizes... Vibrant makes some good stuff...
That way you don't have to wait another 4 months for another exhaust.

Give Tony a call about just buying a resonated section. When I got my non-res he said something about just getting a resonated section if I deemed the LTH and non-res combination too loud.

MJB, sound clips? I'm running Momentum headers, Test pipes and my litespeed exhaust should be here by the end of the week.....I wanna hear what it sounds like! Pretty please :D

AlexRaymond19 02-25-2013 06:44 PM

Good ideas! Never really thought about that.

AlexRaymond19 02-26-2013 06:12 PM

Got a test drive in today! I was shocked with how much quieter the exhaust sounds now after the M370 install... It was almost disappointing :-( But i finally realized what was going on. On the outside the exhaust sounds the same. I figure it had something to do with the resonant frequency inside the car being changed from the new manifold. It sounds so much smoother now under load. Literally sounds like im breaking into lambo territory with the exotic sound it makes. I did a few pulls, and it felt like the the bottom end was a lot beefier

That makes 0 sense to me, lol...
I know it changes the sound, but it's really minute

At the same time, I just hope you enjoy the setup, I know you put a SHÍTLOAD of time into it

AlexRaymond19 02-26-2013 06:30 PM

Let me put it this way, it is the same volume, but it is much smoother now. So it makes it seem a lot quieter. If that makes any sense :-P You know that sound you get sometimes if the window is down just at the right spot, and makes a wobbling sound, and makes it feel like your ears are going to explode? Well imagine that before the install, and now i rolled the window up an inch. It is still just as loud, just different...

AlexRaymond19 03-07-2013 09:19 AM

Took the car to work yesterday, and the people in the office could hear me start it and take off, from the 6th floor :-P

SS_Firehawk 03-07-2013 10:02 AM

Lol. My Wife tells me my dog can recognize my car from 2 blocks away.

Huck 03-07-2013 11:29 AM

Hehe yep, if my car is outside I vibrate pictures on the wall of my friend's house 5 houses down. I've also stepped on it pulling out of my neighborhood and my buddy Joey could hear it, sitting in his house with the windows open.

He lives in another neighborhood :bowrofl:

Well this should be interesting for me with the lite speed exhaust as it has no mufflers..... LOL! Not to mention in live in a valley that ECHOES EVERYWHERE! Damn, the 3 apartment complexes around me sure are going to hate me. Too bad Patrick@litespeed sent my exhaust parcel (which I specifically asked him not to) so its going to take about a month or longer to get here....

AlexRaymond19 03-26-2013 05:09 AM

Car is at the shop this week. Can't wait for the tune and dyno results!!

AlexRaymond19 04-02-2013 12:43 PM

It made 322WHP with the stock cats on... They did not dyno it with the test pipes on like i requested... Also they hit me with a bill of 3500 bucks.... I am so pissed right now i can't even begin to think about what i am going to do about it. Or what i can do about it even. I basically told the guy i wanted him to make the stock cats fit on there because i was cheap and did not want to buy new ones. You would think after saying that, that he would tell me up front that it would cost more. 25 hours of labor at 95/hour.... Plus the tuning and install of swift springs and camber arms

25 HOURS??? What did they do, take an 8 hour nap between sides??

AlexRaymond19 04-02-2013 01:10 PM

How long does it take to install springs and camber arms?

I could do it in my garage using jack stands in about 4 hours tops, if I work straight through with no breaks... 3500? Damn brother....

Did they give you a dyno sheet or anything?

I just did my swifts in 3 hours at home with stands. Camber arms couldn't be more than another hour tops. And what are you going with cats? Oh wait! Momentum headers, not long tube FI headers lol, sorry. Still, 25 hours means they do t know what he fûck they're doing.

I don't get it. Didn't you install the headers yourself? what was the 25 hours for, making the momentum headers fit with 370Z cats (ie change the flanges)?

Also I agree, springs and camber arms if you have a lift, an impact wrench and spring compressors should take 4 hours max.

They said they could mod my stock cats to fit for cheaper than it would cost to buy new ones... Chanrged me 5 hours for that, and 13 hours to install springs and set up the suspension. I complained about it it, and theyu dropped it from 25 hours to 18 hours. I think the whole thing should have only taken 10 hours max. But i really have no choice but to pay at this point... They have my car until i do

NitrousZ34 04-03-2013 05:33 AM

Wow thats some bs. It should only take 4 hours, 5 MAX to do the suspension. Thats $500 right there, plus tune, and flanges. Maybe $1500 at most. You got shafted duded

Bro I'm lost here... What exactly got done to your car that took 25 hours? How long was your car there till it was done?

Most shops are only open 8-5pm and unless your car is the only car they are working on. I doubt it takes that long.

That's why you always get a solid estimate/quote in writing. I could do all those things without a lift in less hours.

Just because the shop has novice mechanics and it took them longer than what the manual says they shouldn't had charged that much.

Why are you on stock cats? I may have missed it but I thought you put on the Z1 test pipes when you put the headers on.

You can used stock DE cats for $100......Springs and camber take 4 hours with the tools they have at their disposal. IF you don't have Uprev and you paid for the program and the tune then $850ish. To change the cat flanges looks like they charged you for a damn Meistershaft exhaust....

Joepro 04-03-2013 06:22 AM

I would not pay even that much...call 3 other shops and get quotes. Then go to the
Manger and show the other time quotes and tell him you will pay what is fair. contact the bbb immediately if he will not work with you. I know flat rate all too well, if it took 25 hours they would not have magically knocked off 7 hours so quickly, and we all know it didnt.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 08:24 AM

It was there for a week, waiting on parts. And they said they couldn't let it leave the shop without stock cats...

So you said the bumped the time down to 18 hours, so how much are they charging you now? How much did they charge for the tune and dyno time?

Sh0velMan 04-03-2013 08:31 AM

It's a little baffling to me that you would take on a header install yourself but then pay someone to put on simple suspension parts. :P

Joepro 04-03-2013 09:22 AM

Most shops doing performance work should have a set fee for tuning, a set fee for suspension install, so the only wild card would be the cats...like everyone else I wish you luck, but do not fold, give them hell!

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 10:44 AM

So update, I guess the 322 was with the test pipes. I didn't read the email correctly. I was disapointed, but hp is just a number right? Did i mention it was a mustang dyno :-P Ill have the slip after i pick it up today

If you leave stock cats on it will kill your power.

Yeah with TP's you'll pick up at least 10.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 10:55 AM

I fully intend putting th TP's on asap. Tonight probably. Im picking up the car after work today

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 10:59 AM

So if everything is correct, and the mustang dyno was configured right. What does 322 equate to on a standard dyno like dynojet? Just currious
