Sounds like you could have saved money by just not having them mess with the cats?

If they won't let you "leave" without the cats on the car, you could trailer it home. If the car doesn't get driven out of their shop, they aren't liable and shouldn't care.

Uhaul rental is likely cheaper than the labor they put into fabricating those cats just so you could get home.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 11:08 AM

Thats what I should have done

That sounds right. I have the same type of mods and made 324whp.. And that was with an exhaust leak that I had to fix afterward.

Good numbers.

Joepro 04-03-2013 11:38 AM

correct me if I am wrong, that may break 350 on a dyno jet! HOLY SHINIKIES! I have been monitoring my old forum but have yet to find a set, waiting for Z1's unless I find some.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 11:49 AM

Thats what i was thinking. Im going to also grab a few of their other sheets of stock cars they have dyno'd to get a baseline. Hopefully they have dyno'd another 370z. And the 1/4 mile track is right down the road. Going to see if i can get a few runs in and see what my trap speed is

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 11:52 AM

Looks like if my car weighs 3500lbs (which it should be lighter right?) I would need to pull down a 1/4 speed of 107 to be in the 350 whp range

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 11:54 AM

ahh i guess the light the car, the faster you have to go to get the higher hp number

Until you put it on a dynojet, it's a mystery...

Lol, sorry bro, but you aren't at 350whp... like I said, 322 sounds about right... in fact sounds a little high for a Mustang Dyno. I bet if you put it on a Dyno Jet you'll make around the same plus or minus a few hp.

Most mustangs read 10-12% lower than a dyno jet. HOWEVER, we will not know until it hits a dyno. regardless, good numbers.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 12:10 PM

We shall see. I'm not making any wild claims, or do I even car really. Just interested to see how much the momentum headers helped out

Yes... I understand that.... but what I'm saying I think that particular mustang dyno he was running on was reading high...

What was your WTQ? And do you have the dyno sheets you can post on here?

could be, but we can hope.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 12:30 PM

Ill have the sheets when i pick up the car after work. The guy just emailed me the whp number real fast.

Good, make sure you get some kind of proof that it was tuned... Who knows, this sheisty shop might have just made up some numbers. Did they do the 5 different maps like valet mode, theft mode, that you can switch threw?

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 12:48 PM

Yes they did. I got a 93 TP tune, and 93 cat tune, valet, theft mode, and 91 tp tune. I only intend on using the cats to get a sticker

340ish.

I'm sorry to hear all of this is happening to you man, it's too bad you don't live closer to me or we could have tackled all this crap no problem, except for the tune (which I'm working on learning). Best of luck to you man.

Thanks for the good words man! Hope all is going well with you. Short term it sucks, but realistically its just money... As long as I learn something from the ordeal i guess its money well spent. It could be worse i suppose

Yeah, but that just isn't right brother.... I mean I can see a shop charging a couple hundred over from what you were expecting.... I mean it happens, sometimes they run into problems and the time they quoted goes up. But when your talking 3500.. that is straight up robbery.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 01:08 PM

I just want to know why it takes 13 hours to install springs camber arms, and "setup" my suspension...

Huck 04-03-2013 01:35 PM

Yeah honestly I would try to take some Kind of legal action if they don't fix this situation to your satisfaction. They can't take your car and ten charge extortionist amounts of money and hold your car for ransom. I would threaten to go ballistic, call the authorities, call the news (cause they always love a good scam story), contact the BBB, call their corporate office, and then give them a bad rep online. Tell them that they are either cone rely dishonest or completely incompetent (ask which it is), and show them quotes from 4 or 5 other shops that are reasonable. Worst case scenario you could pay with a credit card and then dispute the charge.

That is actually the stock cat numbers. They said it made more HP with the stock cats by 2whp... I don't really know how that is possible... First impressions, it felt slow. I don;t know if its because its a **** ton quieter and just feels slower or what. I put the TP map on, and it friggin screams now. Its like stupid fast. Is it okay to run the TP tune with the cats on?

Also, i am most definately taking it to another shop to verify dyno results and see if they can take a peak at the tune and see what the deal is with the test pipes not making more power.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 05:13 PM

Also, i thought the tq and the hp had to cross at 5300?? Is that close enough, or is something fishy

I thought it was 5252. My math is a little rusty though.

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 05:23 PM

Oh and i got a peak at some dyno sheets they had on a stock 370 putting down 249 255 and 252 hp on the same dyno. And when i asked if their dyno reads high or low they said on average they see it read 8-15% lower than dynojets

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 05:24 PM

Still word or mouth and worthless, but I am getting a bit antsy to get it on a different dyno

Why? Aren't happy with the numbers? You said it ran like a raped ape when you had the performance tune on it right? Hows the suspension feel, and what did your alignment look like?

AlexRaymond19 04-03-2013 05:33 PM

I meant the actual dyno numbers they told me about their dyno running lower than average were worthless. It grips like glue! A lot less body roll, changing lanes on the highway is like instant now. And believe it or not, the ride feels less bumpy! I took an off ramp at 60, **** myself, and still didn't come close to feeling like i was going to lose it. Its tight and peppy. So as of this moment i am happy with it. The valet tune is pretty cool too, i love the sound of it tacking out at 4k rpm. Sounds like a video game

When scaled for lb-ft, it is.

Any dyno will give you potentially "accurate" values, but I'd put it on a dynojet simply because they are VERY consistent from unit to unit.

Get uncorrected, SAE, and if you wish STD and then it will be clearer what's going on.

Just ask for the DRF files and download winpep.

Do they have the TP graph, maybe someone else know better than us but these cars see to ALWAYS gain hp without cats, unless they have the graph I call BS on that, they didn't do it. Time to part ways with this shop...

This turned into a Journal:stirthepot::bowrofl:

4K is a bit high for a valet tune/limiter... You can still get up to speed with that. I limit mine to 2.5K. I mean most valet area where I'm at parking distance is only xx ft. away they can drive at 25mph max to get it to parking. This is the benefit of having the tuner version:tup: you can do it yourself.

Also, whenever I get work done that I can't handle. I put it in valet mode :tiphat:

I'm glad your happy your setup.

Huck 04-03-2013 08:08 PM

At least they gave you maps. I payed $600 and the fûcker wouldn't even make any maps for me. And he netted me all of 8hp.
