Default AAM Short Tails With 5" Tips On Nismo

Hello guys,

I figured I should start a new thread (original here) with the correct title so that it would come up in the search results for anyone looking to do this.

AAM Short Tails and 5" tips are installed on my Nismo (stock exhaust).

The install:
Once the stock muffler was out (I should have done what others have done which is unbolt the hangers, jeez), the install was a breeze.

The quality:
Everything is top notch (thank you Khoi).

The fit:
I think we all had doubts about the 5" possibly not fitting on the Nismo. The fit is actually perfect. I did have to add some stainless steel spacers to the left hanger but I suspect this is from the stock exhaust alignment. The tips stick out equally as well.

The sound:
Well, it is amazing. It is loud but not insane (I come from a V8 M3 with similar setup so maybe I am partial). Cruising is just a tad louder than stock. Accelerating is loud but good loud. Downshifting is simply the best. Once thing to note, none of the videos online do this exhaust any justice, the sound is much deeper in real life (which is a good thing).

Note: the 5" tips will not work on a regular Z (too tight), only on a Nismo or maybe an aftermarket bumper.

Overall I am very happy with this setup. The only thing I will change is the tips since Khoi did not have the burned tips in stock. So in a couple of week, these tips will be for sale if anyone is interested.

Hope this helps anyone wondering about this set-up.

Does it sound the same as the normal AAM's? Or is there a little bit of a difference

no difference in sound. All AAM short tails now are made with clamp on tips. I simply just sent Olivier 5" tips we use on our GT-R exhausts since he has a nismo to try it out. It ended up working out perfectly! (vs the 4" tips they usually come with)

Yeah I'm pretty sure. If it's welded on, you'd have to cut them off and then you can slip these tips over and clamp them down

yes, that's actually what I just did for Olivier

we are adding the new part numbers in our system hopefully today and will have updated parts on our website, it essentially will be S-line Short Tails Nismo Fitment (which will include the 5" GT-R tips)

$429 for polished tip
$499 for titanium tip

I can do free domestic shipping for the370z.com members

yeah, same thing with these GT-R tips, you definitely would have to space out the hanger mounts a bit or else it would rub/melt the bumper
