http://www.the370z.com/members/neveu...mper-right.jpg Right It wasn't touching, but after a long drive it vibrated soo much that it was. Oh well I can live with it I guess. |
I can't decide if I want this angled exhaust look or an after market exhaust that looks stock (ie: Berk, Stillen) ... what can help me?

Hi! This past Monday I got my car back with the FI 18" exhaust and Injen intake system. My first impressions are:
1. The sound is real sexy!!!! I think I made the right choice going with the 18" and the oem HFC, more than this will be very loud for my taste! 2. Talking about hp, well the car of course is faster but in low rpms I felt the car a little slow in acceleration, above the 3.000rpms the car rea lly feels more alive. I think this slow acceleration in low rpms is because i need to tune the car to get a better A-F setting and send more gasoline to the engine. I really think I need to get something similar to the Cobb AccessPort to get the best performace with this new parts. 3. Is there any way to reset the Ecu, like the 350z procedures given by Technosquare ? or can only be unpluging the battery? |

How we lookin', Tony?!
|
Hey guys, i'm number 169 on the list. WooHoo! I'm trying to decide between the 12" and the 18". I want the exhaust to be much deeper and somewhat louder than the stock exhaust, yet i don't want it to be overwhelming in the cabin, but its hard to figure out the how much difference there is from stock to 18 and from 18 to 12. I wont be changing the headers or cats or intakes. Can anyone provide some input?

Raps: My requirements for an exhaust were about the same as yours. I got the 18"CFs, when I first installed them I thought even those might be too loud but after letting them break in for a week they have settled into a quieter, much more sporty sound, exactly what I was looking for.
|
mmm tony I guess that my exhaust will be done in about 2 weeks right?

I had the same concerns as you... I wanted louder than stock but didn't want too loud... the 18" is perfect. I can talk to a passenger without issue and I consistently talk to people at my office with the Bluetooth without any issue. You won't regret it... the 18" resonators are for people like us. They fit the bill perfectly. And like Dr. Awkward said, the exhaust is pretty loud when you first install it. After about a week of driving the muffler packing burns in and it settles down quite a bit, so don't be too alarmed by the volume at first. |

It's very difficult to judge volume from a video. You really need to hear it in person. I think there are a couple people up in the NY/NJ area that have the FI CBE so maybe they'll be able to let you sample the exhaust.
I don't think it drowns out my stereo at all. Like I said, I am able to participate in conference calls using the Bluetooth in my Z and it is not a problem. |
Docaam's video is pretty sweet, btw. This is my first time seeing it. "He thinks credit crunch is some sort of breakfast cereal" LMFAO!

People need to remember that they have the option of not running the hfc, if the sound is a little loud for they're liking.
