I ordered the carbon fiber mufflers version (6 lbs. lighter than regular mufflers), and I have Berk HFC's sitting here that will be installed the same time as the exhaust. I am confident that this exhaust will have good power gains. 2.5 inch diameter piping, good x-pipe design, and the mufflers go straight out instead of the stacked design that has more bends. I anxiously await the arrival of my new exhaust.

I demand videos!

Tony will there be a burnt tip option?

G37Sam 07-06-2009 08:53 PM

I believe Tony mentioned earlier on in this thread that the current setups come with 4.5" tips, the burnt Ti tips come in 4" but are not available yet for the 370Z, maybe later on down the road

I think I'd want to go with HFCs in the future, but I'm not 100% sure... so I wouldn't know which exhaust I should order...

12" in the video.

As an option, if you wanted to you could buy the system now with 18" resonators.

Then if you decide down the road to install high flow cats and you feel the system is too quiet, all you need to do is purchase is the center X Pipe section with the smaller resonators. I know, I know, it is more money however it just gives you options. Feel free to call me if you like...

Thanks, Tony

Thanks Tony. I think I'm just going to give it some time for members to put up videos so I can identify my ideal setup. I probably will not be doing anymore mods to the car until the September time-frame (my Birthday... therefore the SO is more inclined to let me do stuff I want to do :icon18:).

What does that equate to in inner diameter?

ZforMe 07-06-2009 10:47 PM

As I, like some others on this forum, am comparing this to the Berk prototype, I'm wondering what advantages/disadvanatages there are between the two since Berk is using a flex coupling, FI is not?

Also, sound comparison wise, when re-listening to the Berk exhaust, it has a similar smoothness to this exaust. With Berk saying it will have a more exotic higher pitch tone with the X pipe, I'm wondering if these two exhausts will be nearly identicle.

Thoughts?

I think they might be close. The prototype was with HFCs which are going to most likely sound a lot rougher. I wouldn't be surprised if the Berk's with stock cats sound pretty close. It's really going to come down to how similar the X pipes are and the mufflers.

The X pipe definitely results in a more exotic sound. With Mustangs if you wanted the deep, classic sound you went with a chambered muffler and an H pipe. If you wanted more exotic, racey sound you went with a straight-through muffler and an X pipe...

I went with the latter. :D

I'd like pricing on the stainless mufflers with 18 inch and again with 12 inch.

Roughly 2 3/8" because we use 0.65 stainless steel tubing.

Probably not, just an intro sale. The pricing is aggressive enough and group buys rely on other people. This way you can all make your own decisions at your own convenience.

F.I. Inc. 07-07-2009 02:15 PM

All PM's replied...

For now!

NewYorkJon34 07-07-2009 02:16 PM

would this be a good exhaust if I plan on installing a supercharger later on?

Without a shadow of a doubt. A straight through design with minimal bends and no baffles or louvers!

NewYorkJon34 07-07-2009 02:26 PM

Awesome, can u send me the price in a pm?

LiquidZ 07-07-2009 02:38 PM

Thanks for the PM Tony!

Togo 07-07-2009 03:22 PM

I can't wait to see some before and after dyno result on this exhaust. It looks and sounds like it's a f^$#ing home run!

FuszNissan 07-07-2009 03:24 PM

I think Tony is going to the dyno tonight! :excited:

Later this week probably Thursday night. But, we are aiming to get it all done in one shot. In the following order:

1) Stock (Baseline)
2) TDX cat back
3) TDX cat back w/ high flow cats
4) TDX cat back w/ resonated test pipes
5) Possibly- stock cat back w/ high flow cats
6) Possibly- stock cat back w/ resonated test pipes

We will get 3-4 runs with each configuration and take the average of each one. Not low stock and high cat back, that is inaccurate and it is false!

It is a Dynojet and it will be set in SAE all the way through.
The only change we will make will be the component we are testing. I will take video and sound clips as well.

I welded a wideband bung in to the stock exhaust to show all of you what the A/F numbers will be stock. I will also have A/F readings in every other configuration to show you if it leans out and how much.

Stay tuned...
