pretty cool you that you least tried it out. I just don't think I could drive with that much noise everyday. Don't get me wrong, I think loud exhaust is pretty cool, but it definitely needs to scream like that car in the other vid instead of a loud fart.

I feel like the cats are pretty much the only things that keep the rasp out. At least with LTH's you get more of a scream than a rasp. The only thing keeping me from getting long tubes at the moment is due to the fact that I need a tune pretty desperately before I lose all my usable power for regular driving. Running my current combo has me hankering pretty badly for torque before the rasp range. With a tune and dyno time running around 600 dollars these days, it will be a while before I can even get the long tubes at 900+ dollars.

Lol I have the short tails and have been thinking of getting test pipes. That's loud as hell. My girlfriend hates the rasp now. I'm hoping to get stillen g3 soon to help. I like though man! I may have to ;)

I think you'll just eliminate way too much backpressure. You'll have to find a way to do that properly, not to mention that much noise is pretty questionable in terms of "legality."

Legality doesn't matter to me since in PA and modification to the exhaust is technically makes it illegal. I want more noise lol

Not like your current sound level is "legal" anyway. :icon17:

I'm not sure from the videos whether I like the sound or not. Sometimes I love it and others it seems too raspy. I'd like to hear this setup in person though.

You heard mine at the meet I thought? And mine is super loud and I love it. If I could post vids from my phone on here I would but it won't let me.

I can very much tell you that the gen 3's will only increase the sound, by adding all that engine noise to the mix with your exhaust noise. The short tails are pretty crazy on their own, and if your girlfriend really does hate the rasp, I'd stick to HFCs or resonated test pipes.

In the first fly by video, I shifted into sixth when I passed by my buddy. That's the worst the rasp pretty much gets, WOT at 3-4K. Even to me, it's practically unbearable. Everything after that range is just beautiful, but 3-4K is pretty much considerably "cruising." Unless I'm really on it, I normally don't go above 4500, so I hit that range a lot. That's the only thing really turning me off from this current set up.

@14~

that scream is what I'm after

then get LTH, Y-pipe , 3.5'' single exhaust with only 1 race muffler .. big cam also change the sound.

dastaco 09-18-2012 05:57 AM

You should be able to get the sound you're looking for without LTH. A Y pipe to single 3.5 exit will do it, however you're going to have alot of rasp still. Unless you get a resonator I doubt you will kill the rasp. I've found though that given enough seat time you learn where your rasp RPMs are and get pretty good at avoiding it... takes some time though.

I heard it a little bit when you left, but you didn't really get on it so I could hear the full sound :shakes head:

My single side seems like it's a little louder than that... but without the rasp.

vq's with a single is my all time favorite. may look awkward but it sounds the absolute best. What does your exhaust set up consist of?

I love it... I have wanted a single ever since I bought the car.

I've got a surewin Y pipe, 3 inch tubing to a vibrant quiet resonator through a 3 inch buddy club race spec muffler. I wasn't crazy about the muffler when I got it, but after putting it on the car it looks good.

The downside is that it's so low to the ground...

3 inch piping really doesn't like to fit under the rear diff, especially with my car being so low. I'm about to re-do it soon though as I have a Zele kit coming. It's also about 30lbs lighter than a full Stillen CBE.

Sales@AAMComp 09-18-2012 09:43 AM

oh yeah single for sure will be much lighter. Very impressive! all mandrel bent? what about cats? stock cats?
