Wow that CF looks awesome! Okay, so considering I've already surpassed the dreaded demon bolt when I installed test pipes, how difficult will this install be considering I've got a lift available? Install time for single man? Thanks y'all!

soxfan69 03-28-2014 07:24 PM

I installed mine using ramps and jackstands in 2-30. Should have been 2 but I got overzealous on a midpipe hanger bolt and had to drill and tap another. If ur a decent wrench head should take about two. Incredible fit and finish! I did have to shim the right pipe with two washers to get it on the money, but hands down the best exhaust I've ever installed.

Are you referring to just the catback install? As soxfan69 said, I would estimate about 1-2 hours. With a lift and air tools, time obviously goes down.

Fitment is spot on, but it does help to have a 2nd pair of hands holding the canisters up at the desired angle. Would just hate to see anything happen to those beauties :)

jcasti07 03-29-2014 11:29 AM

1cleanZ, yea it's just the catback install. Thanks for your input, guys. I'm install #956 so I still have a ways to go but I'm pumped! And you're absolutely right about that extra set of hands for alignment; I tried removing the stock nismo catback to install short tails on my own and it was a b!t&#

Just to give you guys an idea of what number they might be on, I'm 926 and it has shipped :excited:

Anyone know who if the Non-res pipe are just as deep, deeper, or less deep than the 12" or 18" (sounding wise)? that sound is just so intoxicating that I want to make it deeper and louder. Thinking about buying a Non-res pipe to replace my 12" pipe, any suggestion?

From what I've hard the resonators just change how loud the exhaust is, so as far as deep ness goes I would assume the note is the same, you just hear it more. I got the non resonated, you think it will be too loud or just right? You could always try doing test pipes or something instead of a new x pipe if you don't have them already.

Quantum 03-31-2014 12:51 AM

Hey guys, I'm looking at the FI 18'' res and possibly high flow cats. I've hunted all over for videos and while it sounds beautiful I'm concerned about how loud it is since it's difficult to determine if not in person. I want a deep non raspy sound but I don't need to be getting complaints from the neighbors haha. Can anyone shed some light on it for me thanks. :tiphat:

Whats the wait time if I ordered today?

from the first post on the first page:

Here is how our ordering process works:

When you place an order all I require is a $300 deposit. This deposit does go towards the entire balance. I do not charge the remaining balance until your exhaust is ready to ship. At the time the order is placed I create an actual invoice for you. Then I will email you a PDF copy of that invoice to keep on file. Now all of my exhaust systems are hand built custom for each customer right here in house. I rarely have anything in stock. Everything is built on a first come first serve basis and right now we are 11-13 weeks out from the time your order is placed until the time it will ship. This may possibly be an over estimate, but I would rather under promise & over deliver. Now the lead time does not start until the order is placed and the invoice is created. Once your exhaust is built and ships I will email you your tracking number.

I installed my FI HFC's and CBE with 18' resinators and carbon cans over the winter. We finally had a nice day to go for a drive here in Chicago, this weekend! I have to say this was money well spent. Tony was very helpful in choosing the PERFECT setup for me. I didn't want obnoxious/dirty loud. It's not for me. With this setup I get no drone inside the car. At cruising speeds it's a faint grumble. But when I open it up, she screams like !@#$%!!!!! My neighbors all came out of their homes to gawk when I took the Z out yesterday. Absolutely love it!!

Quantum 03-31-2014 08:00 AM

Thanks Meulen! Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for, I'll chat with Tony at FI first to be sure.

Non-resonated is definitely deeper. I've owned both 18" resonators on my G37, and now own a Non-resonated x on my Z. The 18" gives a steady tone but a little higher pitched and less refined, where the non-resonated gives more throaty/deep of a rumble. At high RPMs, you sometimes even get the badassness of a slight backfire almost!

I paired both exhausts with Fast Intentions Resonated HFCs.

If you have the time, just read some of these posts, there isn't a single person that thought it was a waste of time. Long time, yes, worth every minute you waited for it, not even a question. From the very first cold start to that first WOT you will instantly forget that much time went by. Fast forward 1000 miles and all you will be doing is finding reasons to open the throttle or downshift. And worth every cent!!!!

Dixnot 04-02-2014 01:28 PM

Reason to buy #2313 - Was at a stop light today windows down and some man pulled up next to me. "excuse me can I ask you a question? Who made your exhaust system" he says. I responded with the appropriate response. and added "... I waited in line 3 months to have it custom made."

He responded "I see why, it is the most beautiful exhaust system ive ever seen (im not making this **** up). "When i was behind you i was admiring how perfect it sits under your car and i'm just amazed at how it looks"

My mechanic said the same thing to me when he saw it! :):tiphat:

but an 11 week wait time.....? That is absurd.

Do not get me wrong, I still want, but 11 weeks is still a long time.

Not at all. They sound great and fit like a glove. It's worth the wait. It's worth the cost. There are cheaper options, and there are faster options. But there's a reason they've sold as many as they have and there's a reason there's a wait. If you can't wait, you might be able to find a used one here. But there's nothing absurd about being willing to wait to get the one you really want. And if you do get in line and wait, once it shows up you'll be glad you got it.

wolfesquire 04-02-2014 07:24 PM

Okay I am sold. How do I buy one? I can count it as an early bday present or something.

Call Tony at Fast Intentions (805) 522-FAST (3278)

He's on vacation right now, but anyone there can help you. Best to get in line now.

cooltoy 04-02-2014 08:10 PM

All they need is $300 deposit to start.

Meulen 04-02-2014 08:18 PM

Seriously, I planned it out. Ordered it in October, put the car away for the winter in November, got the exhaust in March, installed and am enjoying it now!

axmea? 04-03-2014 01:08 AM

Do you guys check at the lines that run at 10 - 11 o'clock on the passenger side cans? I cannot tell what that line supplies but it is close to the cans and want to make sure that is safe. I regularly check.

Are you talking about the fuel line that's next to the muffler on the passenger side? You should have gotten a heat shield cloth to put around it with the exhaust?

I used the heat shield they provided me but I wanted more coverage so I also wrapped the entire length of exposed hose with the reflective metal tape you use for dryer installations. Been over six months with no issues.

It's 100% worth it

zfanatic19 04-03-2014 02:15 PM

100% agree, just installed mine yesterday and I am in heaven, best exhaust by far and definitely worth the wait. Don't settle for a sub par exhaust just to get it sooner, just order it and the time will go by, and next thing you know the package will be at your doorstep :)

On another note anyone got any tips on how to lessen the vibrations or rattling inside the car? Sounds like it's coming from the hatch area once the car gets up to around 5k rpm or so? I should add I have the non resonated exhaust so I did expect it to be loud, jw if anyone has an tips.
