I wish you were closer, I love helping install great parts for super cool peeps.

cooltoy 02-14-2014 08:39 PM

It's the thought that counts. Offer much appreciated.

KaienZ34 02-14-2014 08:49 PM

It makes you feel like a real pro when installing this system, it fits so perfect it's crazy good.

cooltoy 02-14-2014 11:12 PM

Now if I only had a car to put it on.

RoyaltyB 02-14-2014 11:16 PM

Wait, what?!

cooltoy 02-14-2014 11:34 PM

I sold my previous ride by the end of the summer. I miss her by the way.

I knew I was buying a Z, but I don't drive my nice car in the winter and I don't put her back on the road until all the gravel gets cleaned off the roads. In Calgary that is about mid-May. So I did not see the point of ordering a 2013 (there are not that many in Calgary dealerships, especially in the colour I want, so I would have had to order) and getting it in time for winter so I can have it sit in the garage and pay insurance on it. My plan all along was to order at the end of February and get it delivered by end of April. And enjoy it right away.

So I have two weeks to go before I put that deposit down. :excited:

In the mean time I learned a lot form the great people here. I chose the exact things that I needed to mod my future car, what to do and what not to do (one of those being - always listen to kenchan). I started slowly buying parts and pieces to my new car, and a long the way made some new friends.

I am a research freak, and I never go into something unless I researched it inside and out. Along the way I hope I was able to use my new gained knowledge to help a few others.

...

RoyaltyB 02-14-2014 11:44 PM

That's good bro. That research should pay off and result in a very sweet ride. Look forward to seeing your build after you get your ride.

I just placed my order yesterday. Wait time is roughly 10 weeks

Or it seems like forever if you check this thread every couple hours like I did:ughdance:

My system was delivered Friday evening, and I finished installing it yesterday. Everything fit like a glove. Great workmanship on FI products and superb customer service! Having no experience with this type of removal and re-installation, I called Tony twice. He steered me in the right direction, and I was able to easily overcome the obstacles with my stock cats. For those who are on the fence in choosing an exhaust system, FI is second to none. The sound is nothing less than awesome!

James,

I am pleased to hear that all is well that ends well! First UPS and that debacle, and then the demon bolt. I am just glad that we were able to connect over the phone and get it all squared away.

Thank you for the support and feedback.

Tony

Couldn't have gotten that last demon bolt without you, Tony. I was apprehensive about disconnecting the steering knuckle. I've seen posts where others were not successful in reconnecting it causing a trip to the dealership. You took the time to walk me through it, and I have to say, it was easy. Once I got the knuckle out of the way, I was able to get a good bite on that last demon bolt! Broke the head right off of that sucker.

Thank you for your excellent business practices and customer service!

genesis2012 02-16-2014 10:44 PM

I'm curious. Percentage wise, which sizes FI sell the most? The 12", 18" or non-resonated?

I'm assuming it's 18"

RoyaltyB 02-16-2014 10:47 PM

Hey G, thought you had your mind all made up?

I'm hoping so, I'm very anxious!

VQZ34nismo 02-17-2014 07:56 AM

Confirmed my change with Tony, I changed from 12" resonators to NON resonated and of course I had ordered the C.F cans, Tony said my should be shipping out a week from this coming Friday. :happydance:

Got my exhaust installed at the F.I. shop today and it is simply AMAZING! Tony himself did the whole installation and did an excellent job on it. I need an excuse to drive my car now. I went with non-res and it's music to my ears. Thank you for such wonderful and excellent service Tony! You'll definitely hear from me again!!

genesis2012 02-17-2014 04:28 PM

I said f*ck it! I just switched my order from 12" reson to non-resonated carbon fiber.

Non-resonated sounds wayyyyy too clean.

I guess I just gotta drive it at low revs to avoid attention.

14 more days!!

Demon bolt.... If you ordered cats "F" those 2 liitle bastards. Hit it with PB and get a big *** breaker bar and see what gives first. It's going to break or come out in the end they are out. Just drill it out and put a proper bolt in if you need to reinstall.

I used Kroil instead of PB. I don't think the lubricant was the issue. It was probably the thickness of my socket and the steering knuckle keeping the socket from sitting square on the bolt head. Once I moved the knuckle, it was an easy break.

Bullit79 02-18-2014 07:38 AM

Well, the day has finally come: I scraped my exhaust :icon14:

It's a gen 1 I picked up used, but the previous owner had never scraped. I'm not lowered, but I cam across a line of bricks calling itself a speed bump. I was fine going up onto it, but the drop off coming down off of it was too much. :owned:

Fortunately it's only on the front of the mufflers so you can't see it from the rear. I hadn't had any other problems with speed bumps or driveways in about 3 months of driving. Still, I should've been more aware and maybe tried to hit that plateau at an angle.

KaienZ34 02-18-2014 01:01 PM

Even at stock height and stock exhaust I'd always go at an angle, doesn't work every time but it helps. You should be fine as long as it didn't make a hole in the muffler(s) you'll be good to go.

Don't think. Just do it. Best decision you will make for the Z.

/Angelo350Z/ 02-18-2014 07:19 PM

^^ Agreed. I'm even thinking about replacing the Nismo S-Tune CBE and Berk HFCs on my 350Z with F.I. The quality and workmanship is unrivalled.

Smartace3 02-18-2014 11:28 PM

Just installed mine yesterday and OMG... LOVING the growl!!! I thought it was going to be too loud with the non resonated setup but nope! Its the perfect amount of loud.. :happydance:

Bulldog_z34 02-18-2014 11:44 PM

Does anyone know if FI will sell the carbon fiber mufflers separate? Kind of a crazy question but I'm kind of curious. I ordered mine with the ss mufflers but all this extra hype and emphasis on the CF mufflers are making me wonder lol

Non-resonated?

HngNgn19 02-19-2014 12:09 AM

Gaaaahhhhhh! all these posting makes me want to change my order to the 12" instead of the 18" res. Don't even say non-res, I would! but the GF was getting a headache with the old WRX with SPT CBE. Tooo loud for her, I can only imagine how loud the non-res would be on the Z, it's a shame. Any suggestion guys? 12" res is good for a DD without getting the Girl a headache? hahahah

I was on the same boat as you. My girlfriend hated my last car, because she complained that the exhaust was too loud. Especially living in a gated community, we have to keep things down a bit.

I've considered the 18", then I heard people complaining that they want non-reson. So I switched it to 12" SS to get a little bit more volume out of it. However, I met up with a forum member, RoyaltyB, to listen to his exhaust Non Resonated CF and it definitely blew me away. Literally. I can tell you that non-reson is loud but for all the right reasons. On regular cruise, it isn't even that bad. What is loud for you may not be loud for others. It's subjective .

Anyway, you can't go wrong with any of their products. Just telling you my personal opinion after listening to the non-resonated cf. It's pure awesomeness

Have you received yours yet?

HngNgn19 02-19-2014 02:17 AM

I really appreciate your advice Genesis, I'm definitely going to switch the order to at least a 12" reson. As for the non-res i'm can't quite take that step yet. There is a saying, "happy wife, happy live" hahahaha even though she's not my wife, she's always with me so I need to be mindful of something that she'll be okay with. But as for the the noise in the cabin... how is it with the windows up with the non-res CBE? Genesis? or anyone who has a Z as a DD running stock cat with FI Non-res CBE? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

1325 02-19-2014 02:59 AM

Intact OEM exhaust minus F.I. non-resonated stainless steel cat-back here. With windows up the volume is not obtrusive one bit. I love the deep, consistent rumble it generates even at idle with the air conditioning on, which is also far from obtrusive. Again, subjective to each individual so your best bet is to ride with someone with the set-up that you plan to get. Then ride with an even cooler dude (or chick) with a non-resonated set-up.

JC671 02-19-2014 08:18 AM

I wish I went with non-res. I have the 18 inch with Cf mufflers and LTHs.

Tony any chance I can just purchase the non-resonated section? How much would that section cost?

Yes sir. Non-resonated. I thinks its the sounds the best compare to 12inch or 18inch.
