I don't know how they sell it so cheap but racing inspired delivered. Just got my package today (pretty fast shipping IMO) everything was there. Installing tonight.

7 Days from my post about getting them to in my living room. Really not bad.

So i totally can't get the rubber through the air hole. I get about halfway and it's no dice. That hole is just too small... I don't even know how you get gen 3's through there, even with cutting.

RUFFSTUFF 01-11-2013 06:51 PM

You don't cut. The piece you are trying to get the silicone hose through is removed. Only a bolt or 2 to do it. I should say pieces... One on each side.

Hope this helps.

Glad I could help... Twice.

Installed mine Wednesday, took about an hour and wasn't bad at all. I would recommend cleaning the inside of the pipes before installation, mine had a lot of "sludge" on the inside of the metal pipes from the factory. I'm rather pleased with the butt dyno results, nothing extreme but the gains are noticable.

lol

Some tips for installation.

The filter sits slightly towards the passenger side. So keep the rubber elbow on the driver side out towards the bumper a bit more to accommodate the extra distance you will need.

Another tip, install the MAFs before you do anything lol.

Other than that, nothing more then the tips already provided in this thread.

You won't regret that decision once they are on. IMO the ART pipes have a very nice sound to them.

you ever get that dyno tune on the comparison to the gen 3?

deciding between these or the Injens, any thoughts on the differences or air flow locations

Ive had mine for about a year now and haven't looked back. To be honest I look at stillen and laugh cause people spent more money to cut up their car.

They're just a big piece of the puzzle. By themselves, they are neither the beginning nor the end, but without them, the picture is incomplete.

Gibby1113 05-14-2013 09:53 AM

im just wondering if i have to wrap my AC lines with anything cuz i know the stillens end up messing with the AC line cuz of the metal tubes but the takeda has plastic instead of the metal passing through the radiator support...did anyone do this when they installed their takedas? and if you didnt did it cause any problems?

thanks guys, after reading this read i decided to go w/ the takedas :happydance:

When I installed the Takedas, the AC lines were not an issue.

Joepro 05-14-2013 10:35 AM

I have these, no rubbing anywhere to report that I can see, and no cutting was the selling point, even if they make slightly less power, a few hp is not going to make me cut my car...I had the upper tubed PC'ed gun metal like my wheels.

Gibby1113 05-14-2013 03:14 PM

Just ordered mine for $397. Should I do this install myself or should I take it to a shop

They come with step by step instructions and are easy to install.

Gibby1113 05-14-2013 04:09 PM

even if i have no prior experience with this kind of stuff? haha

Here are the install instructions. Give them a read to see if you are comfortable doing it yourself.

Z_Enthusiast 05-14-2013 11:37 PM

I installed mine several months ago via the instructions and felt the car lagged a little sub 3k rpm. I tried researching if the duct which restricts the rubber tubing makes a difference cut vs. uncut. No results. I decided to try it myself and after cutting and letting the ecu relearn it feels stronger. I don't have anything to prove this except for my butt dyno....

SgtGoldy 05-14-2013 11:42 PM

ahh... the good ol butt dyno! lol to be honest mine felt great all the way through the numbers. But thats according to my butt dyno as well lol.

Joepro 05-14-2013 11:48 PM

throttle response will be worse the further away the filter is from the throttle body, from my honda days, sri had better throttle response, cai made more peak hp from not sucking hot air. The throttle delay on these cars is so bad, Im not sure I even noticed, of course my car had typhoons on it when I bought it, never ran stock intakes, and any intake other than stock that is less restrictive will have a less responsive throttle.

It's pretty believable that you gained a few hp from that. The cross section where the silicon tube passes throug the uncut hole is a lot smaller than uncompressed. Did you cut the same way the Gen III's require cutting? Like do the tubes go through the same location?

RUFFSTUFF 05-15-2013 05:00 AM

Ummmm... there's nothing to CUT. The radiator supports simply unbolt. Might even be just one bolt each, its been awhile, I don't remember exactly.

lemon-fresh 05-15-2013 10:31 AM

Oh there is definitely stuff to cut...

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...70z/josh-1.jpg

Neat thing about cutting that area is that you can re-insert the plastic air ducts and return the car to near stock.

Gibby1113 05-15-2013 01:18 PM

Isn't that from the stillen instructions? Don't the takedas just require the removal of the plastic duct and you insert the part from the takeda intake?

UFreefer 05-15-2013 02:27 PM

I did a before and after dyno test of the Takeda's on my car compared to K&N drop in's and there was no loss anywhere in the powerband.
