Berk Technology Cat-Back Coming Soon!

I dropped the DDMotorsports Project 370Z off yesterday at Berk Technology for them to develop a cat-back exhaust! They will have the car for 1-2 weeks so subscribe to this thread for updates on details of the exhaust and anticipated public release dates!

arcticreaver 05-04-2009 04:23 PM

wow, i can't wait to see what they come up with.

Totally full of win!!!!

Been waiting for them to do this.

Diversion 05-04-2009 06:20 PM

Excellent, can't wait to see the results!

LiquidZ 05-04-2009 07:02 PM

Any chances that Berk will be expanding into the header realm?

Figures with the results Stillen is having.

Granted, that is without a tune.

Data (dyno chart and comparitive weight numbers against the OEM) speaks for the system.......well that and a good sound clip 8 )

SUBSRIBED X 10!

I'm pretty sure this will be the exhaust for me. I have their HFC's on order right now.

Hopefully we'll see some great gains along with a decent weight drop (even 5 pounds would be nice).

I'm not worried about the sound, as I haven't really heard an exhaust for the 370Z that i didn't like (borla was close, but i'm suspecting the camera was at fault).

Invidia's sounded rough in the take off vid, but arcticreaver's video showed it's not all rasp.

Minicobra1 05-04-2009 08:24 PM

I was impressed with the Berk HFC's, so this should be good

LiquidZ 05-04-2009 08:35 PM

I am leaning towards the Berk unit tbh.

AK370Z 05-04-2009 08:36 PM

Great news. Thanks for sharing the info. They make GREAT products.

w3rd. In for results/sound clips/pics.

kdo2milger 05-06-2009 03:24 AM

im in, i already know just from the peeps here and all the dynos that i will be gettin the hfcs.

so the catback should be as good or better on gains...

Update:

Here is a photo on the progress with the front part of the exhaust that bolts to the cats. They are still not sure if they are going true dual, h-pipe, or x-pipe, but they should know that very soon. They are also hoping to have a full functional prototype done by Friday.

Are any flex couplings going to be in the tubing?

They haven't said anything about it, but I can ask.

Absolutely! The exhaust must have the flex sections installed in order to compensate for engine movement and twist.

If you look closely at the picture I already have the position marked on the jig where the flex will go.

A side note: During the R&D process you mock up the exhaust systems as rigid piece, then add the flex last. If you have the flex in there now the pipes will kind of flop around in there.

True dual please.

SOLISIMO 05-06-2009 01:37 PM

Any word on a G37 exhaust ?

kdo2milger 05-06-2009 01:44 PM

nice updates guys...

hey berk, how will you guys know which setup to use (true dual, h-pipe, or x-pipe) what will be the deciding factor?

will you guys do mock ups of all three types and dyno each to see what gets the best results?

What kind of steel are you using?

FINALLY, someone here in the States who gets it!

+1. I hope Berk ignores the hype and simply goes with whichever design yields the most gains. I'm ready to try something new (if it gains more than the Stillen).

When I finally decide which exhaust to go with, gains will have been the most important factor for me. Hopefully they can do some HP magic and given Stillen a run for their money. Competition breeds excellence

LiquidZ 05-06-2009 04:25 PM

I'm fairly confident Berk will match if not exceed Stillen.

BerkTech 05-06-2009 04:39 PM

When I say true dual I mean two dual pipes with no interaction between the two. The deciding factor on which one we will produce will be power production & sound. The exhaust will be a dual 2.5" design. That picture of the front section of the exhaust is two separate pipes, the rear of the car will use two separate mufflers.

Adding an X-pipe or balance tube will usually GAIN power and reduce sound. At worst they will have no effect on power but will help to quiet down the system.

Solismo - 90% of our 370Z will transfer over to the G37. Once we finish this up we will jump right into the G37.

LiquidZ - What you see in the picture is a mild steel prototype. Nobody prototypes in stainless because of all of the material that we scrap in the process.

Semtex -We would love to do a back to back comparison.

Do you know what steel you will end up using? I understand the reason for using the mild steel.

Yes, please. Balance tube.

Make it loud

Im awaiting the results too :)

semtex 05-06-2009 07:10 PM

I want it to sound like the SACLAM exhaust. ;)

RCZ 05-06-2009 07:14 PM

I'd prefer a higher pitched shriek than a lower grumble...

semtex 05-06-2009 07:31 PM

I just want my exhaust note to make babies cry. I was parked next to a car yesterday where this lady was strapping her baby into the baby seat. I fired up my Z, and the baby didn't cry. That's just wrong. (j/k - sorta)

I want people to have to cover their ears when I drive them

DannyGT 05-06-2009 08:16 PM

I had one of THE loudest exhausts with my scooby, I mean I loved it, it was brutal in the best way possible but you know what I'm done with that...if it sounds smooth and euro like the AMUSE exhaust I'd be happy.
