Exactly. I want smooth, loud and high.

PS: Did you have a nur spec?

I had an invidia G200 on mine :)

No, I was sporting the Kakimoto GT1.0Z - it was REDICULOUSLY lightweight and equally loud!

At all the meets and any events - everyone knew my car! HAHA

I agree with Semtex, if it sounds anywhere near this, I'm buying.

Yeah, the Saclam is really unique sounding b/c of the design, but it's also really pricey. I think it's a bit too loud for the street, I really don't want to attract that much attention when I get on it. There is a bit of an echo in that vid, I wish I could hear it outside, and not in the service bay.

Keep in mind that once you ad the HFC's it really increases the sound level, if you start off too loud, it will be incredibly loud when the HFC's are added to the mix.

As far as H-Pipe vs. Y, vs. X-pipe, my personal choice would be X, but my only experience with exhaust is limited to V8 cars. My 2 Mustangs ran the X-pipes and made the most HP & Torque with this system. But the VQ is a completely different engine, although it it still a V configuration.

Another thing I'd vote for is more Torque vs. Max HP, (to a point) at least from a street car perspective. I'm rarely up in the 7500 rpm range on the street, so having a little more usable torque down low, would make the car more enjoyable to drive.

I found this clip of a G37, not sure who makes the exhaust, but thought it sounded pretty good.

I'm sure whatever Berk comes up with will be awesome

That looks so ugly tho...it screams custom w/ no taste.

Bster 05-06-2009 10:24 PM

I'd be pleased if it's below 100db and with minimal or no drone at all.

Yes, no drone or very little drone would be good, I plan on doing some long road trips this summer.

Whether the exhaust is loud or not so loud I don't mind but I agree fully with the above .....please no lower frequency resonance (drone).

I second this... more torque please... and a decent sound...

I feel ya. I had the Topspeed pro-1 on my 350z (If any of you are familiar). It was way too damn loud. The drone would make your internal organs vibrate. I switched to the Nismo after about a month.

Don't get me wrong. I love loud but it's gotta be the kind I can live with on daily basis. Maybe the Berk will be a perfect balance.

ssqpolo 05-08-2009 08:09 AM

thank you BERK!! i've been waiting a while for you guys now lol. So, here are my requests lol...dont care for the design, just make it have the most hp/tq gain (you already know the comp). and if u can make it sound like saclam...then IM IN!!! some Ti tips would be nice too. But you already know i will be rockin your stuff:tup:

kdo2milger 05-09-2009 02:31 PM

feening for an update:excited:

B1nks 05-09-2009 02:57 PM

I like the Bassani exhaust and the way it sounded on my 350z. No drone, but was loud when you got on it, and it was x-pipe, and it made good power. It was only an issue with a bend over the passenger side rear lower brace where it would hit when the suspension would compress. Something like this but with better quality obviously would be awesome ! I would be in assuming it doesn't cost as much as the GTM exhaust which is what i was gonna get. something 1,100 or less would be nice

P.S. If it has rasp the gtfo !

ct63084 05-09-2009 06:40 PM

I hope you guys fix the fitment issues a couple of members here are having with stillen.

M.Bonanni 05-09-2009 07:09 PM

Another update photo! Mid-pipe section being fabbed up...

http://www.doubledownmotorsports.com/berktech18.jpg

They are working on it over the weekend to try and get the rear muffler section done.

CBRich 05-09-2009 07:17 PM

Thanks for the update. So we still haven't heard a price point have we?

Nope, not yet. At least I haven't. Not sure if Berk already has one in mind or not. Hopefully we can do another group buy like we did with the HFCs :D.

jimmy99 05-09-2009 07:34 PM

I cant wait untill the finished product is revealed, I'm really looking forward to video clips and dyno results. I hope it's good because I'm very interested in this exhaust, I have yet to buy one for the Z and this might be the one. Thanks guys.

B1nks 05-10-2009 11:00 AM

Maybe there could even be a combo deal on the hfc and exhaust along with the group buy !

semtex 05-10-2009 11:08 AM

Or maybe a customer loyalty discount for those of us who already have the Berk HFCs!

370z4Steve 05-10-2009 01:37 PM

Has Borla come out withthere exhaust for the 370 yet?

frost 05-10-2009 01:39 PM

^ nope.

ssqpolo 05-10-2009 06:43 PM

i would like one! i want my group buy + customer loyalty discount!

ZforMe 05-10-2009 07:02 PM

Is it too late to request angled tips? Loyalty discount ftw.

ssqpolo 05-11-2009 12:32 AM

mmm. angled tips. angled burnt ti tips. i want my 20+hp too. and a sound like saclams. berk are u taking notes? lol jk. cant wait.

Solus 05-11-2009 08:43 AM

grr how the hell do you subscribe to a post without posting? I have no viable input for this post other than I want it and can't wait to see what berk can do but don't know how to subscribe

semtex 05-11-2009 08:52 AM

Click on Thread Tools up top. Might also want to review the FAQ, in particular the General Usage sub-section.

jimmy99 05-11-2009 02:41 PM

any updates on the exhaust? Thanks

Diversion 05-11-2009 02:41 PM

I'd love some angle tips like the factory ones.. would look so nice! ;)

par4bmw 05-11-2009 03:04 PM

I am with those wanting angled tips.

M.Bonanni 05-11-2009 03:23 PM

Haven't heard anything from them since the last update. I am sure they have been busy working on it. As of right now, I am supposed to be picking the car up on Thursday so I think they are shooting to have multiple configurations mocked up and dyno tested by then.

BerkTech 05-11-2009 04:20 PM

Hi guys, we're busy at work on DDM's car.

FYI on the tips, the tips will be angle cut, dual wall. :)

Yay! Great news! Rejoice!

DannyGT 05-11-2009 04:24 PM

Can I please make one suggestion....Look at the design of the rear bumper and look at the stock tips...They are angle cut BUT they're not a perfect circle...Please try and make a bigger version of the stock tip...

Oval-ish, dual-wall, and angle cut...that would really fill in the exhaust cut outs in the bumper and look fantastic!

M.Bonanni 05-11-2009 04:25 PM

You guys are demanding lol...

You're right—they're oval from the factory. Unless, you bought the NISMO exhaust, which is round.

Correct, but from a side profile even the nismo isnt that great looking...

Its so much cleaner from the side when you have some sort of tapered design to the tip...

I like the way my Nismo exhaust tips look from the back, I think the round looks great, but if they did have a slight angle cut, that would be good too.
I think the Factory Nismo car coming out this summer has the round with the angle cut.

The nismo and stillen are nearly identical...and the circle, while looking from directly behind looks great, it looks a little to big and goofy from a side profile. (for some reason I coulda sworn the nismo car is still using round non-slant tips)

Now if they go tapered/slant and its still a round design then technically from the back you wont tell the different until you see it from the side which at that time it should then look even better!
