3. YouTube - Berk Technology Prototype Exhaust #3 Dyno Test

Do i have this right ? What does this setup look like and what changed ? Like the sound but what is the price point now ?
lol, don't concentrate on the prototype numbers. That was my fault. Berk made the first two videos, I made the third.

The exhaust that will most likely go into production is the X-Pipe version shown in the second and third videos you listed. My mistake is that I had prototype #2 marked as the h-pipe version while Berk had prototype #2 marked as the x-pipe version.

Retail price hasn't been set in stone yet, but I have a group buy going on right now and pricing for that is $995.

Yeah but I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if that second video is the same exhaust as the third ? Cause it's kinda hard to hear the exhaust in the third clip over the dyno at some points.

Ugh, such a great deal. Hell makes me wanna buy the HFC's and CBE before I even buy the car cause I know the price is gonna jump $500 or so lol.

So this deal's only good for a month... Aug 14th is gonna be a scary day for my bank account then lol.

The only thing I do not like about this exhaust is the weight. Everything else looks great.

more weight over the rear of the car is definitely better than more weight over the front. Unless you are a full out race car you won't tell the difference of a few pounds.

I agree. I wish we had a weight for the x-pipe.

I saw it posted earlier in the thread, and was kinda glossed over so I wanted to see if I could get a more in depth answer about this cause it was something I considered...

Me myself, I like the looks of the / \ style cannisters that FI makes, but after listening to the Berk video's, I like the sound alot more. Which, looking at the numbers, they are relatively close as with most exhausts, so for me it comes down to Asthetics. Earlier it was mentioned that Berk went with a = design versus the / \ because of the aerodynamic lift created from the space in the / \ design.

However my original thought process was wasn't the point to make as few bends in the system as possible, for that 'straight through' power? It seems as if this puts alot more bends in it to make the = pattern work?

Do not get me wrong, I am not bashing this system at all, I really am growing fond of Berk products and just like clarification. I will probably get this setup of HFC + CBE as soon as theres more vids of people driving with it. Dyno's are good, but unless I'm on the strip (which I'll be inside the car) I won't get to know what it sounds like to the outside world.

straight through with the least bends as possible is what people won want a turbo in the near future will look for. More bends in an NA car isn't going to affect the overall horsepower as much, and it will likely gain a tad bit more torque due to a tad bit more backpressure.

keep in mind a tad bit is something you will never feel on the butt dyno. The difference isn't going to be noticeable between the /\ and the =

Ground clearance I believe was one of the reasons berk went with = as well, although it appears FI got everything under there with enough clearance.

So you are saying if someones looking to go ST or TT later down the road, this isn't the kit to go with? Cause my goal is right now, do everything from HFC's back, still a little unsure about headers cause I've been reading the posts here, dunno if I wanna tackle that myself. And I'm looking at doing a TT setup (when it's whithin my budget lol).

to be honest, if you go with a twin turbo kit you are going to want to do a full custom exhaust. The piping diameter could use a slight increase over what is out currently with boost, and you likely won't want cats because legality gets thrown out the window with TT's.

If TT is in the NEAR future, I wouldn't spend money on an exhaust until you have them ready to be put on, then you can do it all right, at the same time. If it is far enough out in the future, you may consider one of the exhausts to hold you over for sound and a little bit of gains until you do so.

Thats my plan, it's gonna take a while cause basically what I wanna be able to do is drop it off at a shop, say I want the engine rebuilt, TT's added, and whatever else is nessecary (electronics, dyno, tuning, etc.) all at once, so when I drive it away the GO is done and I can focus on the SHOW. My Income to Enthusiast ratio is like 1:7000 lol So it will take a while to save up all I'll need to cover that cost.

I'm assuming this exhaust will be fine with an S/C as they don't rely on free-flowing exhaust like turbos, correct?
