New FULL exhaust under development: Supersprint

Hi guys, I have a few pictures of my friend's car, he got a very nice deal from Supersprint as his car is being used as a development car.

He had an Invidia Q300 exhaust but it was too quiet, he just wanted it to be a bit louder but was offered a full exhaust with long tube headers and sports cats at cost price...

I think we can expect very good results...

I think this is a unique design for the 370...they used this for the Porsche Turbo race exhaust and for the M3 E92. There's no x-pipe, the two exhaust line are connected between the two mufflers.

Look how thin the stock pipes are! The endpipes are still a WIP

http://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-11tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-12tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-13tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-14tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-15tn.jpg

Test pipes...these will be replaced by sports cats. Look how restrictive and short are the oem headers! I think they release a lot of heat judging from the thermal shielding.

http://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-21tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-22tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-23tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-24tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-25tn.jpg
Here is the best part...42 to 45 mm step-design headers. The rest of the system is 63.

http://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-26tn.jpghttp://win.clubminitalia.com/vari/370z-exhaust-27tn.jpg

What do you think? I've seen around here you rate the F.I. and the PPE headers...of the two the F.I. seem the most similar.
What cat brand do they use? I've seen on their website they are 300 cpsi units.
In this new system they will be HJS 1st grade (not in the pictures), 200 cpsi, guaranteed to not turn the CEL on on euro4 cars.

I've seen just the dyno for the catback and stock, if I remember correctly it was 335 stock and 346 catback (crank HP, corrected), best of 4-5 launches each.
What kind of increase should we expect? Is there a dyno run of a 370z with a full system without any other mods?

I'm very curious to see how it sounds with the full system.

I curious also. But I cannot find the sports cats in the picture.

The Shocker 06-10-2011 09:35 AM

me too

ClemsonWill 06-10-2011 09:38 AM

Definitely looks promising! Tell them to get the finished porduct up and dyno tested asap.

Liquid_G 06-10-2011 09:42 AM

besides the performance numbers... It looks like the design is pretty nice.. mufflers tuck nicely in the rear so it should be slammed car safe

Gardus350z 06-10-2011 09:55 AM

Yes, the Invidia and a lot of other exhaust are closer to the ground..not a problem with this car but with a slammed car on coilovers it could be!

The car will be ready and tested by the end of next week.

There's a video on the Supersprint YT page of just the catback:
YouTube - ‪Nissan 370Z - Catback exhaust - preview.‬‏
What do you think? If it's too loud there will be some modifications at the center section.

Gardus350z you mean this system is composed with LTH and sports cat and CBE? really interested!

RCZ 06-10-2011 11:47 AM

looks nice, but isnt supersprint superexpensive?

Gardus350z 06-10-2011 02:42 PM

It is a bit expensive but it's pretty much the best...I'm not sure how much it would cost in the US...they just started selling direcly online even there, I could ask...maybe a group buy or something could get you a good price.

The problem is the conversion euro-USD...I think we're looking at 6k $ for the full system...

Anyway, the components are:
Long tube step design headers, 42->45 (or is it 48? I have to ask) mm.
Front pipe with HJS euro 4 sports cats (full stainless 304 steel) (or test pipe on request)
Centre section with two small silencer
Rear exhaust with separated twin loop muffler and central connection
100 mm lipped chromed exits.

It will probably be available with black exits, but I'm not sure.

FL 4Motion 06-10-2011 06:24 PM

Cool, more options for the consumer is always good. Supersprint has a great rep in the euro car world.

b1adesofcha0s 06-10-2011 07:20 PM

In for results. Sounds awesome from the preview video.

_ace_ 06-12-2011 06:11 PM

Really like the SS sound, except there's a bit of a loud rasp. Hopefully they can weld, fasten, or dampen whatever is making that noise.

Dzel 06-13-2011 01:29 AM

Sounds really nice but 6K!!!

Gardus350z 06-13-2011 05:09 AM

It's finished! I'm going to post pictures of the full system as soon as I have them. There will be a few videos too, on the dyno and of the car revving and on the move.

b1adesofcha0s 06-13-2011 06:52 AM

That's awesome! Can't wait to see them

christian370z 06-13-2011 09:31 AM

Sounds great! It is definitely a unique setup with the two mufflers being connected via an x pipe like design, curious to hear and see the final product.

RCZ 06-13-2011 12:29 PM

hmmm, let me spend 20% of the car's value in an exhaust system, that makes perfect sense.

Gardus350z 06-14-2011 03:39 AM

RCZ I know people that have spent more than the value of the car in mods, so it's not so strange. I received a few pictures of the system, it's being fitting today, as we speak they're fitting the new O2 longer sensor wires.

TypeOne 06-14-2011 06:18 PM

Wow that looks expensive.

Jamaica 06-14-2011 06:29 PM

6k? want a supercharger or a really expensive exhaust?

I really want to see what a 6k exhaust for a z sounds like.

b1adesofcha0s 06-14-2011 06:33 PM

Yeah $6k is pretty high for an exhaust. Most of the ones available now are around $1-2k, so I don't see why this one is so much more.

phelan 06-14-2011 06:50 PM

That's even more than Amuse...

When I bought my Audi used, the previous owner had installed a Supersprint exhaust onto it. Sounda beautiful, very refined, and they know how to make sure the setup has no drone.

Gardus350z 06-15-2011 04:07 AM

Does amuse make headers for the 370z? I've never seen them.

6k$ is an estimated price, and it's for the full exhaust with cats and headers.
They tell me HJS charges 500 euro for each cat, that's just the cylinder with the matrix, without any piping! Plus it's all made in Italy, manifacturing ain't cheap here...

How much are the other full systems? where are they made? The Invidia catback system is made in Taiwan for example.

Anyway, there's a bunch of new pictures, I think they're self explaining but a few details:
There's a cat back system with front pipes, centre silenced pipes and a rear exhaust.
Then there's the full system with headers, HJS 200 CPSI sports cats, centre silenced pipes and rear exhaust.
The front pipes of the catback work also as decat pipes if fitted on the long tube headers, removing the connecting pipe with the flange (there's a picture of this detail). That's the reason why the header have two O2 sensor socket, so you can fit the the 4 sensors without extending the wires if you fit them with decat pipes. If you fit them with the sports cat the 2nd two sensors are placed downstream, after the cats.
Note that a lot of welds on the pipes won't be present in the production item, this is the prototype and was assembled using pre-existing pipes when possible.
There are both MIG and TIG welds...the production headers will be probably be all TIG welded.

The car will be tested on the dyno today and I'll publish the results as soon as I have them, videos will be updated Friday or next week I think.

6k is a big flop for any exhaust I don't care what it sounds like where it was made or what kind of metal its made out of and yes im aware of it being a full exhaust.....all im saying is 6k for an exhaust **** it better suck me up or something but untill that happens F.I. all the way

Paskii 06-15-2011 07:55 AM

6K is a bit pricey for a full exhaust system even with headers, however it is made in Italy and it is expected that their quality and craftsmanship is extraordinary. Perhaps if there was more info such as material, weight, and performance information some people may be interested. I know 6K sounds like a lot but a fancy Italian handbag can cost over 2K lol.

Econ 06-15-2011 08:17 AM

yea it might be difficult to sell $6k exhausts to 370z guys (when a decent one w/ headers can be had for ~$2200). You can get a supercharger for that cost ha.

Nonetheless I'm very interested to hear how it sounds.

phelan 06-15-2011 12:21 PM

Yeah...this system looks like it might be even more rare than some JDM exhausts. Even my mind is blown spending $6k on a stainless steel exhaust.

If they figure out a more marketable price, though, I can tell from experience that SuperSprint makes some GOOD sounding exhausts. But I think they're stuck in Eurotuner mode...those prices won't fly on a JDM car.

:iagree:

98intrigue 06-15-2011 01:18 PM

Let's compare...FI LTH are what, $1200? Let's take a more expensive exhaust like an HKS which are around $2000. That's $3200. I'd say a fair price for a rare, Italian made exhaust coud be around $4000.

is it worth having LTH and exhaust for 30 hp gain for over 3k?

very true. For 4k exhaust i was some full titanium and a lap dance

RCZ 06-15-2011 02:23 PM

Haha, it doesnt matter where its made or who makes it....its $6000. There is 0 way to justify a $4000 exhaust, much less a $6000 one. I understand people spend a lot of money on mods, but usually thats on a LOT of mods, not just an exhaust. Like some said, this might fly in the upscale market for cars worth $75k+, but it will NEVER work in a competitive market where the average price for an exhaust is about $1200-$1500. $2500 with long tube headers....

I'm not, and im sure no one else in here is, trying to put this down because super sprint makes some awesome exhausts, but whats the point of making something you're not going to sell...

Erik@RTTuning 06-15-2011 02:46 PM

As said it is a projected number. Let's see what they actually try to bring it to market at after everything is said and done.
I will say it looks killer.

+and sounds great.

Gardus350z 06-15-2011 03:28 PM

Ok, here a few facts:

The system is completely made in Italy. A LOT of JDM parts are made in Taiwan or China (HJS, Invidia, Tanabe etc) so they are cheap, and I have to be honest, (sometimes) they are well made, as the workers are very cheap they can afford to have more people, for example you can have a single worker that makes the same TIG welding on the same part all day long...
They usually are too loud in full system form, and the headers are often nice looking but fragile.

Anyway, the price of 6k is just an indication, based on the cost of similar system from Superprint, for example the GT3 system has step-design headers, HJS 200 CPSI cat and a rear exaust with black tips...it made 465 Hp on the mk2 3.8, that had 446 hp from standard, and that's on a higly strung NA engine, JUST with the exhaust...and it's around 7k.

I have no idea whatsoever what this system could do on a SC car, as the headers are a lot bigger (we're talking 42mm for the first ~150 mm, 48 for the rest of the primary pipes, with soft variations between..how big are the F.I.?), and the cats are the best in the world!

Another thing, how much is a new 370Z in the US? because here in Italy it's 41.000 Euros-->58,000 USD for the Coupè.

Consider just this, the previous full system developed was for the Mercedes SLS AMG (that's a 190k Euros car!), and it was made with the same philosophy. I've seen the dyno charts: standard car 581 HP and 640 nm. Full Exhaust 603 HP and 700 nm..but that's not the full story as at 3800 rpm there was a 55 hp increase! Hamann is going to offer this system in his catalogue (Supersprint makes all the system for Hamann, Hartge, Carlsson, Lorinser, Geiger, Techart, AC Schnitzer etc...)
Here you can watch all the recent cars, SLS included:
