Thank you Raul for bringing your Z up to test...i have always been a big fan of independent results and to see a company put out a quality product for a new vehicle so quickly it is a true testament to dedication....I have tuned countless nissans with every mod imaginable and in almost every configuration...and can honestly say this mod excites me...(not like that..lol) ....the kit went in flawlessly with little effort and made real world gains across the board....well done Stillen...im ready to see what comes next!

Actually thank you right back Jack, for taking the time to do the install and dyno, with our advisement that this particular upgrade takes a couple of extra runs to show it's true power.

Enthusiasts drive this industry, and we're happy guys like you get it. It sounds like Raul has some more stuff he's going to be bringing your way.. can't wait for your further assessment. :)

Most bolt-ons will be necessary with forced induction to get the full impact.. others can be removed and sold in the classifieds.. I can guarantee you there will be swarms of folks looking for quality items to get at a discount.. and you'll get the enjoyment in between..

I've only heard of this happening to one person. His intake was by the floor and he is a complete idiot. Just like the radiator obstruction, this is a nonsense worry. Just stay out of the ocean and lakes...

and before someone asks...because this was asked in the subaru forums once....it doesnt matter if its "man made water"

Really great numbers, RCZ, I admire your in-depth write-up! What's your assessment on how this VQ is making all this power with simple bolt-ons? Did Nissan really leave that much room at the factory or what? I know this was discussed on an earlier thread- about what numbers we could expect to see- but now that you've tested some of the products out there, where do you see I/H/C/E and tuned NA 370z's topping out at?

After seeing how the car is behaving and at the risk of being embarrassingly wrong... I would estimate that after basic bolt ons..we will be looking at a little over 300WHP on a mustang dyno. With some luck I will hit my target 315WHP, but I don't think so. No one has a COMPLETE exhaust setup yet. Everyone is missing either one or more components from their results; the most promising of which are Semtex's results of 291WHP from a Berk HFC and the STILLEN catback. I would say you can find another 10whp+ with the headers. Add the effect of the intakes and hopefully that will round out a more free flowing intake/exhaust system.

With a tune, I will out on a limb and say that 315WHP is very attainable.

RCZ, I think you might be underestimating the potential. Keep in mind that the 291WHP was on a Dyno Dynamics. That should already be over 300WHP on a Mustang. The conversion factor is around 1.11 (from what I've been able to find on the net). Which means all things equal, 291WHP on DD = 323WHP on a Mustang. In any case, I've got two dynos scheduled for tomorrow. One back on a DD, and the second on a DynoJet so that we can get some comparative numbers. I don't know of a shop in my area with a Mustang dyno, but we can at least get an idea of what the conversion factor is between Dyno Dynamics and DynoJet. As you already know, Mustang will be somewhere in between DD and DJ. (The conversion factor from DD to DJ is supposedly 1.18. We'll find out how accurate that is by tomorrow!)

Ben, what did you get for your baseline again? I think you are thinking the DD reads a lot lower than it does. I think the DD and the MD are close. You are not making 323WHP on a Mustang...that's craziness.

DD is usually the lowest reading dyno but it can all depend on how it's been configured. Unfortunatly, they're not all equal.

I, for one, could care less about the numbers themselves but more about the gains over baseline. Over the next 3-6 weeks I will be conducting a full baseline and modded dyno chart on a dynojet. The more and more I read about how well this motor is taking to mods the more I hope to achieve 40-50whp NA.

My friends 335i just dyno'd 360whp on our friends dynojet, and his car is a beast from the pulls we have done thus far. I'll be happy for 315-330 on the same rollers.

i've always had the understanding that the Dyno Dynamics will give you the lowest numbers of them all....which is why its called the "heart-breaker" :ugh2:

I never did a baseline, but we ran a baseline on bullitt5897's stock Z right before my run on the same dyno and he got 254, remember? As for number comparisons between the different dynos, I'm just applying the information I found and posted to your http://www.the370z.com/vq37vhr/2199-...html#post46179 thread. "The closest in numbers (at low HP) is the mustang, but using the above example, the same 300hp car was dyno'd back to back on a Dyno Dynamics 450 LowBoy (what we have) and a Mustang AWD500E (what some other guys have), and that 300hp rated car consistently read 223 on the Dyno Dynamics and 249 on the Mustang. One hour apart, exact same car, same town, same altitude, etc."

If you do the math, 249/223=1.11659. i.e., 223 x 1.11659 = 249 (rounded). So if these numbers are correct, then take my 291.7 on DD, multiply by the same, and you get 325.7 (I was only multiplying by 1.11 when I said it comes to 323).

But I think emphasis has to be placed on the if in "if these numbers are correct." And that's why I'm getting two dynos today -- one on DD, and one on a DynoJet. You see, that same article says that you multiply a DD number by 1.18 to get an approximate DynoJet equivalent. Well, I want to see if there's any validity to that. I want to see if it's even in the ballpark. It'll at least tell us whether or not that article has any credibility. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not saying that if it turns out that their multiplier for DD to DynoJet is correct that we must therefore automatically consider their multiplier for Mustang to also be correct. I'm just saying that this is a first step in assessing the basic credibility of the information in that article.

I don't want to sound disrespectful at all Semtex, but I don't think those numbers are really accurate. The conversion factor I mean. Its too high. I am really glad you hit 291WHP, but its a stretch to say you are making over 320whp on a MD. Who knows though, I hope you are right and we are getting absurd power out of pipes. I dont know though...I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Not trying to put you down at all, just my opinion.
