I dont know though...I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Not trying to put you down at all, just my opinion.

I'll know soon enough.

We're actually on the same page, RCZ. We are in complete agreement. I too am very skeptical of those conversion numbers, which is why I'm going to the trouble of taking the time (and expense) of doing comparative dynos later this afternoon. Look, when everyone else sat around scratching their heads wondering how to compare numbers between different dynos, I'm the one who took extra time to search for info on the net and found that article. Now, in the absence of better or contradicting information, all we can do is take the information in that article at face value, which is what I'm doing with my calculations. But taking those numbers at face value doesn't mean we set aside our common-sense skepticism when the calculations yield results that are hard to swallow. So while some other people (not you) have been 'contributing' to the discussion by sending me ever-so-constructive comments like 'There's no way!' or 'That's BS, I'm not buying it!', what am I doing? I'm taking it to the next level by going out and actually getting two different measurements on two different dynos. I'm taking a half-day off of work to do this, and I'm doing it with money out of my own pocket! These people who call BS on the numbers, are they actually presenting any contradicting evidence to refute what's in that article? Are they making any real, constructive, contribution to the discussion? Of course not. They're just flaming like a bunch of haters. Meanwhile, I'm going out and doing the leg work of getting real comparative data.

I sincerely hope the other members of this forum appreciate what I'm doing to help build a better knowledge base for us all. If others are just going to sit around shooting spitballs at me (figuratively speaking) while I'm going out and doing the heavy-lifting, I'll just keep my data to myself and PM it to others who actually contribute constructively (like yourself) rather than post it for public consumption. There's no law that says I have to share my data publicly, after all.

Sorry for the rant, RCZ. It's not aimed at you personally at all. Like I said, I see the two of us as being on the same page. Indeed, I see us as collaborating with each other, not competing with each other. But you should see some of the comments I get via PM or via YouTube. It's ridiculous the amount of insults to my integrity that I have to put up with when all I'm trying to do is help others. I even get people accusing me of deliberately misconfiguring Sharif's dyno to inflate my numbers! It's unbelievable, and makes me question why I bother to share my results.

All the haters need to just :gtfo2:

ssqpolo 04-01-2009 08:52 AM

^^i think we all appreciate what u are doing semtex. and of course you too rcz for getting as many mods on as possible asap and dynoing them. thanks for having all teh fun!!

ChrisSlicks 04-01-2009 09:02 AM

I think what you are doing is great, and I'm even willing to pitch in to help fund your dyno tests.

YouTube is a joke, it's just a flame fest. You shouldn't even read comments there. Keep the discussion here amongst the enthusiasts, those that sent you stupid PM's will be eating their words soon enough.

Youtube is basically 1 step up from 4chan imho :icon17:

And we do appreciate all the dyno research. I really wish I could do before/after dynos on all my stuff, but I'm going to have to settle for dyno+tune once after all the major mods are in place, so having all this extra comparative data is really handy.

ssqpolo 04-01-2009 11:12 AM

^^ya it is. i posted a video when we had a koenigsegg on our hands, and some of the comments were like ******* arabs...he must be a sheikh or something. then one guy is like ya thats the prince of Dubai. well, im brown, but im not arab, and well...its just funny to read these comments. ignorance is...bliss is not first word that comes to my mind--more like frustrating

As I'm sure you've found from some of my posts, I'm quick to call out BS. You are doing a lot show-and-tell on here that douche bags on Youtube and the like simply cannot see (and for some jealous ones, don't WANT to see). Dont even waste your time defending yourself on there.

You're doing good work, and there is no shame in that. Ignore the morons and press on.

RCZ 04-01-2009 11:47 AM

Semtex, either ignore the comments, or turn them off. It is an option on youtube :)

I know we are on the same page and I appreciate that you are doing legitimate testing the same way I am. Dont worry about what the few say... for every one stupid comment you get, there were another 300 people that learned something and found your information useful.

I am really eager to see what you get on the other dynos. If you get as much as you think you're going to get on the MD, then I'll have a party and everyone here is invited :)

semtex 04-01-2009 04:44 PM

My dyno results are in. Those conversion multipliers are garbage if my comparative dyno results are any indication. :icon14:

For any of you who may still have concerns about these intake filters obstructing air flowing to the radiator -- I was changing my oil tonight and right before I was about to bolt the undertray back on, I happened to look up as I was laying underneath the car, straight at the filters. I yelled for my wife to hand me my camera. As you can see from the pictures below, there's plenty of room behind the filters and air isn't being blocked from the radiator at all. Hopefully these pictures will put this concern to rest once and for all.
