Can't wait for mine !!
|
Updates from anybody?
How is everyone liking the new Titanium Ceramic Coating? Any special noises or anything popping up? |
I will get videos and all that good stuff soon. but in the mean time. Its simple. If you want good power, without the rasp / loudness of TPs you gotta get these.
It livens up the sound a bit on the deep end, but isnt really much louder than with the oem cats. Its suprising to be honest just how tame this keeps the exhaust. So the FI should still sound like the FI, and the ARK just like the ARK etc. a tad louder (reall ynot much) but deeper as well. |
Exactly. My exhaust seems to have been fully broken in, not a single noise to be heard anymore.
|
Excellent! I ordered mine two weeks ago so I hope they ship really soon. I have an appointment for a tune in two weeks so I hope they're here in time :-/
|
More just came off the production line and will ship today and tomorrow. :)
|
Sweet!
|
Is it possible to put a deposit down for one of these since they aren't so readily available?
|
Mine arrive Thursday!

My pipes had a minor exhaust leak due to install, and are quieter after that was fixed. The guys at Z1 drove it around some, while I listened from outside. I have to say that I am impressed with how quiet these are, especially after about 500 miles or so (they really do change a lot). Very satisfied.
|
Hey Tony, have you guys started on your CBE or your intakes at all yet? I'm very interested in seeing what you all come up with before I make my decision on which exhaust I want to get.
|
Yes the exhaust is in work now. Working on routing tubing and testing various primary diameters. No release date yet, I will make a post on it.
The intake will come after the exhaust. |

As far as the break in, how would you describe the change? |

Everyone is coming out with something new... i'm just trying to wait for the very best out there and I know you all, Ark and F.I. and others all have top quality products. It's just so hard to choose lol. |

1st week: Very slight metallic-sounding rattle inside ART pipes during cold start and deceleration. Rasp during acceleration above 3000, in the form of a hissing sound - NOT the typical hiss on deceleration (in fact, there was never any of that). Instead, it was the sound of air rushing through the pipes and it was coming straight from underneath me. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks: Rattle sound gone completely. Rasp/hiss on acceleration remains. Because the Nismo exhaust is relatively quiet and deep, and the hissing was quite loud, it was bothersome. I was contemplating putting the stock cats back on or getting a different catback. The hiss was coming straight from the ART pipes themselves, or maybe the y-pipe - but that general area. 5th and 6th weeks: Hiss/rasp slowly went away. The type of rasp changed from a hissing sound emanating from the pipes themselves to a much more subdued, open-exhaust type rasp that you would expect. Except now, the rasp (which, again, is very slight) comes from the exhaust tips rather than the ART pipes under the floor board. This is about what I expected from reading about the ART pipes, and I'm happy with it. I don't think HFC's would be any quieter. |
I went to take a vid of these today and my battery died...DOH
|
First 200 miles: no problems.
Next 200 miles: bead in tin can rattling at start up and also while driving. CEL light P2A03. Code cleared hoping it was just a fluke. Last 200 miles. Bead in tin can rattling is all but gone. Still some hints of it. CEL light returns but now its P2A03 and P2A00. |
What are those codes?
|
Left and Right O2 sensors. but can be an array of issues, not just faulty o2 sensors.

Any chance you could spill a bit of info on this, even if it's just what your goals for the intake system are? I know I'm not the only one unwilling to go the route of the G3's, with the bumper removal issue etc, and I'm still not convinced the R2C's are worth the money or can outperform drop ins and PMTs. |
Quote:
Has anyone looked at the front of a G37 lately? The whole front end is open for airflow! No wonder it can make power close equal to the G3's. |

I hope Tony makes a kick a$$ intake that will post repeatable good gains etc and not be a pain in the a$$ requiring bumper removal and have fitment issues ala G3 and a/c lines etc. I'm willing to wait and see what Tony comes up with and then hopefully by then be able to compare his dyno results ot R2C and see which comes out on top. (I was about to go ahead and plan to order the R2Cs in a few months but now I will wait since motordyne makes such good products) |

It is super easy to remove the front bumper. Dont let that stop you!
|
Yep. Right around 5min total
|
which intake is the R2C never heard of it...

I have been thinking about TP's or HFC's get closer to 320WHP, |
I've heard a lot of good things about these pipes, and they look really amazing. Personally I don't care a whole lot about how they affect the sound, but I'm curious about the power gains.
The skeptic in me is still having a hard time believing how it can produce gains over regular test pipes. Dyno tests seem to show improvement over the whole rpm range (in comparisons to regular test pipes). But if it uses resonance to produce gains, then my brain is telling me that any gains should be limited to a specific resonant frequency. I like understanding the technology behind stuff before pulling the trigger on a purchase. Any chance Motordyne can chime in on how exactly that is possible? Or is it a trade secret? :p I'm also kinda torn because I want these, but I also want long tube headers. Are you guys planning on making headers with these built in? |
ChipsWithDips,
There is nothing like actual real world testing to show what a part does. Would you like to do a comparative dyno test? Discounted for the dyno of course. :) If possible, try to include LHT's as part of the comparison. And yes, we have considered putting the side branch resonators on LTH's. That would be ideal for sure, but that will have to come after implementation of other projects in work now. Tony |

I wish I could have just driven to Orlando to go pick them up now. FedEx is holding them hostage there until tomorrow!
|
Well they came in today and I installed them. Pretty straight forward for the most part. Great build quality and their packing was terrific. I just took the car for a 15 mile drive and I couldn't be happier. They sound deep and quiet. Almost as quiet as stock cats but you still get the little popping when you ease off the throttle. WOT there is no rasp and it's sooooo smooth. I love them.
However, I am worried about the drivers side where the ART meets the catback. I had to use some force to get them to match up. The passengers side went great but I did that side first. Looking under the car you can see how the drivers side exhaust hangs like 1/4-1/2" lower than the passengers side. I don't believe this is a problem with the ART pipe because they seem to appear even and straight. Probably just me when I was tightening up the exhaust near the rear axle I suppose I could have tweaked it a bit. Overall, I am stoked. I can definitely feel the power difference between the GTM resonated test pipes and the Motordyne ART pipes. Can't wait to get my car on the dyno on the 12th. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...1/IMG_6818.jpg |
Eventually the ART Pipes will get a little bit quieter once they've been broken in. That's what makes this the ultimate mod - it's power and sound without all of the drawbacks.
|
Whats everyone doing with the wiring going to the sensors? Mine aren't able to reach the brackets that they used to clip onto
|
Received mine today also. Get them installed next Thursday. Can't wait!!
|
|
sounds great!
|
It seriously sounds so amazing in person. The iPhone 4 just can't capture how deep it truly is.
