They are sold out, so i gotta wait about 7 weeks :( but am at the top of the call back list as soon as they get them in,,,and when they do am heading straight to the shop to get these on and dyno'd

G37sHKS 01-13-2011 01:19 AM

Hey Kastley, after million of search.. I found out why the drop at 2k-3k RPM..

its not about the stock exhaust, its about the Y pipes. and its not because its cheap..

actually all the Y pipes that have 2.5" and 3" merge will have high gains from mid to top but drop in low end...

here some examples..

Tanabe Y pipe VS MotorDyne Y pipe
Tanabe has 60MM dual to 70MM merge.

I jumped on it. I am still on the fence about getting TPs or HFCs. I have one of the Top Speed cat backs at work collecting dust waiting for me to install it. I heard this exhaust with berks and a jic magic Y and it sounded pretty good with no noticeable rasp. I plan to do a similar setup.

The data imported into Excel for analysis is not smoothed so its a little bumpy but this is the raw unaltered data from Winpep 7.

Some repeatable dynos of this and I'm sold bud. :)

Jordo! 01-28-2011 04:11 PM

GREEN = Bone Stock 370Z
RED = aftermarket CBE w X pipe + generic TP's + tune
BLUE = Y pipe w stock CBE + ART TP's + stock ECU

http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...ferent-tps.jpg

Detailed comparison shows some losses down low with the ART TP's that are most likely due to the absence of a tune (compare with tuned dyno), with gains of 5-7 whp and torque throughout the power band over regular TP's with the ART TP's -- very impressive considering the tune is probably not optimal.

Looks like they found a way to massage a little extra power out of their design. Nice!

Kastley, what do the ART pipes cost and are resonated / relatively rasp-free?

Kastley85891 01-28-2011 09:29 PM

415 on MD site, PM or call Tony he is pretty decent.
Very little rasp, nice sound.

Hmm. Still makes ebay TP's the best bang for the buck, but if people want to pay for the brand names, the Motordyne pipes look to be the clear winners. Nice gains!

docaam 01-29-2011 12:25 AM

thats some sweet gains, now I need to check mine with a tune

GZ3 01-29-2011 12:39 PM

will have my dyno up monday for the ART pipes....thanks kast!

Boost_lee 01-29-2011 01:32 PM

^^ they sound good btw on stock exhaust

Thats really good detail without using a spreadsheet.

Did you use the shop dyno computer to generate it?

Jordo! 01-29-2011 03:24 PM

^^^ Thanks :)

I have the winpep software. I just overlay the graphs in paint in order to have multiple cursors that highlight gains/losses at different points in the rev range.

Sure wish you guys could bring the price down on these bad boys... they offer nice gains over standard TP's, but a bit out of my price range :(

Need a 7AT test car who clearly has no problem collecting massive amounts of data and sharing the results with others on public forums? :D

Motordyne 01-29-2011 04:54 PM

Overlaying the plots. That's thinking out of the box.

Although they can never be built as cheaply or as easily as regular test pipes we are reviewing ways to reduce cost with every production run.
We'll do a GB when they are back in stock.

Fair enough -- well, if you need another test car, let me know :D

Absolutely Jordo! Sounds like a plan.

dont forget about the Atlantians... :p

tyler20c 01-29-2011 10:23 PM

I have the invidia gemini catback right now and im thinking about getting these ART pipes. My question is how much louder will these make my car? I bought the invidia because it isn't that loud so im worried these might make it a little too loud.

Motordyne 01-30-2011 03:03 AM

To give it some relative perspective, they are louder than stock cats but quieter than High Flow Cats (HFC's).

...and definitely quieter than regular resonated test pipes.

Cant agree more:tup:

chuckd05 01-30-2011 11:30 AM

Do want, but already having test pipes the few hp doesn't justify the cost. O well, def a quality product tho

Really?! That is surprising they can be more quiet than HFCs but I read your write up on the technology behind them and find it amazing.

tyler20c 01-31-2011 12:56 AM

Im sold. When can I buy?

GZ3 01-31-2011 09:28 AM

^^ TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT....but they will be back very SOON!

tyler20c 01-31-2011 12:05 PM

tyler20c 01-31-2011 03:18 PM

lol man! I was all set to go, then they called me back and had to cancel my apt. I hate to keep people waiting, especially my fellow Z community on a performance part. I will try again this week or next

EVL370 02-03-2011 06:18 PM

Hi Guys

I'm running the Berk HFC's and FI 18 res system.

I'm after to quiet my exhaust down however not lose out in any gains.

Are theses res test pipes quieter then HFCs or around the same?

Cheers

M

GZ3 02-03-2011 06:22 PM

they are quieter than HFC

EVL370 02-03-2011 06:33 PM

Is there only a smell on a cold start or is it always there?

it goes away after a while alsmost completely...but usually on cold start

Kastley85891 02-07-2011 09:57 PM

^ agreed, stinks on ECU initial cold start fuel dump.... then nothing but purring beautifulness

370Z JT 02-07-2011 10:02 PM

Kast, Are these noticeably quieter than HFCs?
