Nismoracer, I agree what you say...I went to one of my local muffler shop. They will do around 250 custom muffler with my stock muffler tips. Or + around 80 for 3'' tips.. I guess the sound wont be any difference if you go with the short tail one..But yes...this is a bit pricey...

Hey dude, I see you have the Berk HFC, will this fit on to the OEM exhaust? THX:tiphat:

Maybe they haven't gotten back with the info cuz they found out that it does create drone??? Don't see how doing the washer mod doesn't create drone and this shootin out the back end would.??? Very interested in getting a set of these. They sound great. Won't have to mod my stock set up at the shop I can keep this on the side and swap em out. Anyone put exhaust cut outs yet? That would do both, loud when you want it and stock when you don't. These short tails from aam are a bit pricey though. I can have it done at a shop for $280 straight pipe muffler delete and use my stock tips BUT I won't be able to swap back to stock on occasion. Bet the Short tails would sell more if they were $100 less.

Yes, if you have stock catalytic converters this will add a nice amount of volume and that is what AAM intended them for: Z owners who simply want a muffler delete. However, I have a set of high flow cats and that would make it way too loud for my preferences so I am interested in a muffled version.

I can have it done at a local exhaust shop too but I am potentially going to be working with AAM on other products of theirs so I guess that is part of my motivation.

These would fit just fine! My OEM muffler fits perfectly with my Berk HFCs and my Tanabe Y pipe so these should cut off a whole lot of dead weight that is the stock muffler.

I wonder what it will sound with Stillen Headers + Berk HFC + tanabe Y pipe+ Meistereschaft mid pipe with a any CAI...sounds crazy.......

+1 on the muffled version here.

Just not too muffled I do want the sound the 370z is lacking but I want to be able to hear what my grandchildren say when I'm old so watch the decibels.

+ 1 from me too.

Would love a couple of tip options. Anyone else up for want quad tips

younter 01-05-2011 09:20 PM

How big do you think the quad tips work on the rear bumper? max 4'' for both? I would love to hav quad tips if there is an option for it..I just had my Y pipe and mid pipe replaced and the sound meter reads around 82 decibels in the car. and 89 outside.with cold start..warm start. it go back down to around 78 decibels inside and 83 outside

Nismoracer 01-05-2011 10:02 PM

Man someone hurry and get these and say whether or not they drone. I am starting to think bout just putting in some exhaust cut outs ( $30 ) I can plug it when I wanna run quiet and uncork it when I wanna rumble. :driving:

It will be a pretty aggressive flow through muffler so don't expect it to be quiet haha. Adding a muffler will smooth out the sound of the exhaust and maybe knock off a few decibels of sound but it won't be weak, especially with high flow cats.

They said they can do any custom work you want such as tips so you should give them a call without a doubt.

Hi Younter, just wondering what mid pipe u have. I've pretty much gone down Christian370's path with the berk cats and tanabe Y pipe and was curious about adding a mid pipe.

Thanks Christian370z. I'll give them a buzz. My setup is exactly like yours, just want a little more sound. I was considering the full tanabe exhaust for a while too.

younter 01-06-2011 04:56 AM

Also can anybody post up that video from the 350z with longtubes and a full race exhaust where you can hear it like 2 or 3 min's before the guys car ever comes into view? If my car is ever fast enough to beat a z06 i will be that guy

VQinside 01-06-2011 06:13 AM

can someone call these guys and tell them to come back to answer all our questions??? :p

would do it myself but I'm in Hong Kong for a while.

Nismoracer 01-06-2011 03:28 PM

Judging from what others have fabricated before the short tails came out, it seems they drone a lot. I don't see any difference in aam short tails and ones that a shop can make so they must drone like crazy.
