In stock form, I dynoed 280whp peak. I hope I can peak at 285whp with a set of these filters.

Just take a huge dump and leave your spare tire at home...you'll gain more relative power with the diminished weight than you will with stupid drop-ins.

Allowing for equal cool down time, the K&N filters clearly made a bit more power than OEM, as was most evident comparing the first run for each post-cool down session. It's entirely possible someone could dyno with a hotter car and see a loss that would incorrectly assumed t obe due to the K&N filters. Failing that, I have to assume other transient factors like overoiling (can come from K&N overoiled!) or erratic fueltrim corrections --- the K&N's should simply flow better, so it would be weird to lose power even if you didn't gain. |
drop ins
Just curious, is there a noticeable sound difference when using the K&N drop ins over the stock filters?

barely

So if you don't like the sound of the motor and are looking for a quick change, definitely drop these in - they make just the right improvement in sound. There's a teeny bit improvement in power, but it's mostly low-end and you have to be pretty sensitive to feel it. |
