You can hear it when you're outside the car or with the window open. It's not as noticeable when the windows are closed. Did you guys notice this? The OP mentioned hissing and rasp...I don't hear that, but I definitely hear rattling. I talked to the mechanic and he said all the bolts were tight including the ones that go on the support pieces. No rattling before the install. Anyone experience this? Bluestyle also has a thread about ERZ HFCs, so I'm going to ask there as well.
Definitely no rattles for me. When the car is idling, there is just the low growl of the exhaust. On a cold throttle blip, there is noticeable rasp but this dies out significantly once the exhaust comes up to temp. If it's rattling even at idle, it should be easy to localize. Just start the car when you have it up on jack stands. Then crawl under and have a listen.

Just to update...problem solved. Both caps to the secondary O2 bungs (I think they're called) were loose. Tightened them up and the rattling went away. The exhaust note sounds so sweet! Thanks for your help Spearfish!

Cool, glad you figured it out. If it happens again, put some Loctite on the the threads before tightening them back up.

You some sort of Nissan rep or something? I'm still having nightmares from all the loctite I've fought on this car.

Thanks. Will Loctite work in high temp areas like this? I was thinking about that.

Yes, Nissan overdid the Loctite such as on the shifter knobs. However, he'd be very sorry if that 1" diameter port screw comes off completely before the cat. He'll have flames coming out into the engine bay.

Loctite and tightening the $hit out of it worked for mine. I don't plan on doing wideband tuning anytime soon. If I do, I'll have spent serious money on the car and will just get new cats if I can't get the screw out.

Standard wont but if you are concerned about it they make high temp loctite.

Received my ERZ HFCs on Thursday along with my Fast Intentions CBE. I am really excited to get these two pieces installed as my first performance modification.

I want to note that thought I felt like a boy on Christmas, I was not completely impressed with the cats from a visual inspection. The inner tubing does not meet flush with the flange area like many have noted. From the outside it looks fine, but a little disappointing to see that even after the issue had been raised with ERZ in the past. Maybe its an unfair comparison because I had my shiny out-the-box FI exhaust from Tony sitting right there next to it with its perfectly smooth welding. I also have to note the FI was packaged with much more care.

Anyway! I am going to do a baseline dyno tomorrow morning, try to do the install during the day, then go back for a second dyno run. These will be installed together so it wont show results for purely the HFCs. Thank you to ERZ for the order and quick shipping, I am not an upset customer at all, at the end of the day its about performance for me.

Will the inner tubing not being flush with the flange area cause any problems?

Thats a question for somebody more mechanically knowledgeable than I, but in my opinion no. The outside is sealed off perfectly with the welding so I dont know how it could leak. Anyone?

Any results? I'm curious to see what your dynos showed.

Yeah, if they perform well, and there are no issues, you're good to go really... it's not like you will be staring at the insides of the HFCs all the time...

A CBE is a completely different story... FI ftw!

World Cup has had me so preoccupied at work (along with actual work) that I havent been on the forum at all lately. I got my baseline dyno in which yielded about 270HP and 235TQ - Which I believe is basically normal. When preparing for the install my father suggested a long-term solution of building a pit in our garage instead of jacking the car up. The pit will be done this week.

So in short, I have not done the installation yet and of course no after dyno. I am also away this weekend, I apologize for the delay, but it probably wont happen till the following weekend. As previously promised I will post with all my results once I get them, dyno sheets, vids and pics.

Just heard from a guy with a FI exhaust who crushed one of his CF mufflers after going over a dip. FI isn't as perfect as some make them out to be!
