Do you think you noticed a benefit from the “race” modified intakes? Been thinking about this, but hate to drop money just modifying the crash bar.

Yes & had a buddy who welds good (0-charge) so just the extra for velocity stacks, adapters & piping/clamps...I went from 309-314whp with UpRev tune.velocity stacks are cast aluminum & weigh a bit, so I made a bracket that sandwiches between the adapter & stack....then used a bolt/locknut to hold in place-preventing them from drooping down & just resting on crash bar.
All foam stays in place & keeps filters in that high pressure location.
A few people have opted for Fast Intentions crash bar instead. The air guide tray is something that I made to guide air through radiator & up to filters.
Hope this helps; as I didn’t just throw together,,,took extra time to ensure everything held secure & functional.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Lack of micron data on the Z1 filters removes them from contention for me.

Back to the drawing board for now. Has anyone successfully installed Stillen g3’s without them touching the ac lines at all? The Takeda longtube could be a good substitute. Has soft elbows over the ac lines and Afe dry filters have great filtration reviews across the interwebs.

I do find the design of these filters impressive. The gains to be had from just a filter design or intriguing and show how much goes into the design of an intake that we hardly consider as consumers. A part of me wonder again with these race intakes though, is there less filtration resulting in more air intake?
