Generally because of money. A well designed system be it Y, H, or X will all make about the same power. But typically a single pipe (Y) will usually produce less power because they are designed for economy rather then power but there are exceptions to every rule. H setups are easy to make but you still need 2 pipes rather then 1. X pipes are generally the best but also the hardest to make.
