Nice looking intakes but i'm curious why you decided to go with those, more $ for less gains...

I get a lot of ? About my takeda intakes that should get rid of them I am probably losing hp. But I still managed to trap over 109mph at the drag strip with hfc and the takeda's!

I wouldnt assume you lost power, you probably just didnt gain any. The HFC's were the difference maker. Plus you have an auto, they trap better than the 6MT.

What do you mean by less gains? do you mean i lose some hp? Seriously? So what kind of advantage does this HKS intake offer?

It is possible you may loose some HP when the hood is down and the car is running hot. The reason for this is due to the lack of a heat shield. Once the temperture inside the engine bay is hot, the intakes are now sucking in hot air.

With the hood up on a dyno... i bet it does gain a few HP on the top end, while losing a few on the bottom. Essentially your shifting your powerband higher in the RPM range.

I currently have Gen 3's, Stillen CBE and Berk HFC's. I do feel like i gained some up top!

I DEFINITELY feel like I gained some up top, i have the same mods, but I also definitely feel a loss in low end torque, I'm hoping this Cobb Accessport will get my torque back. And as far as the HKS intakes, they're short rams, and without heat shields no less. Basically when the engine gets hot, they're consistently heat soaking and pulling in hot air. The Stillen and Injen intakes are positioned in such a fashion that they pull the coolest air possible, thus the huge gains they make. Hey Nitex, have you touched your intakes after a few spirited runs or after a drag? Ice cold to the touch every time i've done it, apparently they really do pull in cold air

does having a bracket by the filter make it a bad thing as it cant flex when the engine torques?

I would assume that it depends on how loose they are. I had my mechanic fab a bracket for one side that had to much play, due to opening the core support to much. In the end i took it off as it seems its not really doing any damage moving around. I need to keep my eye on it though.

Yes i have noticed that my intake tubes are cold after some hard driving. They are definitely doing their job. I am hoping that a tune will bring me back some torque as well. I need to do some research on Cobb AP vs Uprev tune.
