Z1 ported intake, worth it??

From a tuner himself he said it all depends on your setup, I personally watched a dyno that the motordyne intake manifold made less power than the OEM manifold. All

Can we stop derailing this thread? I have ported upper and lower and gained power through the whole power band.

3" exhaust will help for TT application-but seem's too large for N/A
true biggest gains r from 4500-5500

install instructions are horrible

Isn't it necessary to piece the intake manifold with the lower portion too, to see any real gains? I thought there is a second, lower manifold component available from Z1 to pair with their manifold. Sold separately, but really, should be together from what I gather.

Yeah, this thing:

They even say the following right in the ad:

In order to maximize the potential of the higher flowing Z1 modified VQ35HR intake manifold, we recommend several other basic upgrades as well as custom tuning at Z1 Motorsports.

I did the full Z1 kit, ported upper and lower, headers (which I ceramic coated), cat delete and the cold air intake. Had an ecuteck tune done by Jtran. Ended up with 326 hp at the wheels with stock NISMO exhaust Dyno chart attached.

Talk to ZGirl, she recently got the Z1 400hp kit installed on her Nismo and she can have some real life recent opinions of the install and performance gains.

It should technically. Motordyne is just an HR upper. Longer runners should make more low end but less up top than a short runner mani. Should be as simple as that. HR is a good 2" longer on each runner. So what it really depends on is what kind of power you want and where you want that power at for whatever it is you're building for.
Hotrodz and jchammond like this.

Then you need to stay OEM.

The following link pretty well explains the advantages of the M370 (350HR) intake manifold.

Review: Motordyne M370 Manifold w/ Comparisons

I made a DIY 350HR and can definitely feel the extra area under the power curve when using the stock 7AT 7300rpm shift point. If you are revving higher to shift, the low rpm gains are less useful.

if you want top end power stay with OEM..the VQ35HR(m370) is great for mid-range if thats where you want it..seriously though if you can cut plastic with dremel you can save yourself a ton of money on the M370 and do it yourself.
everyone of my dynos i made more power on the top end with the stock plenum..

First Dyno with Following Mods
Berk HFC Stillen Gen 3 Ark Exhaust

Uprev tuned with Following
Berk HFC Stillen Gen 3 Ark Exhaust VQ35HR manifold

Ported stock plenum with ecutek tune
