I Hate Plastic Bags!

It was extremely windy last night and I ran over a VERY large plastic bag on the freeway. Unfortunately, it just happened to wrap completely around the mid-section of my Fast Intentions exhaust. Needless to say, it is a gooey, ultra toxic mess underneath there. Today, after my exhaust had warmed up, I almost got nauseous at a stop light just smelling it.

Any good tips for getting this kind of thing off? By the time I get around to putting it up on ramps to clean it off, it will probably all be burnt-in. Anyone know some good polishes for stainless steel to get it looking good again?

As a last resort, Acetone would dissolve the plastic. However, you will need to be extremely careful not to get any on your paint and it is highly flammable.

This happened to my wifes honda. Smelled like plastic for 2 yrs. It was a joke with us. You smell something?

Oh man that sucks. I would get it on a lift, wait for the car to cool down, and clean it off then polish it. As for the smell? Well, eventually it should go away and most of it should be gone after polishing.

same thing happened to me with my stock exhaust. My solution is to replace it with FI CBE. My install is coming up in 2 1/2 weeks!

until then I just scraped most of it off.

hahahhaha try scissor. you can cut the bag in pieces if not the larger one maybe, try the garden scissor, if its no use at all bring your car to the mechanic shop.

Once the exhaust is cool they usually scrape off pretty easily.....

Damn, i just saw this post...sorry to hear. It seems like I run over EVERY SINGLE plastic bag on the road. I guess I missed one. One time I had a tube of chapstick fall down between the cab and bed of a truck kinda the same thing. Anyways, hope she's squeaky clean now.
