Default Fast Intentions CBE Vs. Muffler Delete Loudness

Hi all,

So I have a custom muffler delete on a completely stock exhaust. It is loud, has no drone, and is deep! I love it but want the performance gains of the fast intentions exhaust. I was just curious, has anyone compared the two? Or knows how the loudness/ deepness compares? Would a certain combo (ie 12 in resonators with resonated TP) get me closer to that muffler delete sound?

Man that sounds wild!!! That last video is wayyyy louder than my setup. Did you have test pipes on with the custom short tails? What has been your favorite combination/ setup so far? Idk if Im gonna like this "hissing" when I put on the test pipes

the setup is non-res test pipes and non-res cbe with CF mufflers......and then same without the mufflers and a custom FI axle back muffler delete section.

I run mine both ways. also the hissing you cannot get away from if you change out the stock cats. also it will make people look for turbos on your car.

for inspection purposes the mufflers go on and sometimes I really just enjoy the sound/tone that the CF mufflers produce.

then I drop the mufflers and enjoy the pure insanity of how loud the Z can actually be.

takes me like 10 min to swap them out. the real pain is getting it up in the air first.

So you'd say the hissing gets you positive reactions? People like it? Thats awesome how did you make the custom short tails? I might hack off the mufflers and wield on some 2.5 in pipes if my non res cbe w res test pipes isnt loud enough.

the hissing is really personal preference whether one likes it or not. it doesn't bother me and it's kinda funny to see people with the heads buried under my hood looking for turbos at shows/meets lol

I have a friend who makes racing exhausts and owns a shop. I got clearance from Tony and then dropped all the material off to my guy. he made me a whole axle back set.

I personally would never want to see the muffler section of the FI exhaust cannibalized but I'm sure it has happened in the past.

I just like having a set of mufflers which sounds amazing then I have a set of deletes for when I want to be louder than loud lol

Okay after watching more videos of your exhaust wo mufflers, WOWWW. Thats the loudest ive heard! I will get destroyed by police lol. It sound great tho. Do you think the non res cbe w mufflers and test pipes sounds deep in person? These videos never do justice with deepness.

if you want an FI exhaust that's deep then I would suggest their LTHs and the CBE with SS mufflers.

the TPs and CF mufflers setup is probably the highest pitch/exotic setup they offer yet still has a nice low rumble at idle as you can kinda hear in some of my videos.

however the LTH and SS cans will give you the deepest tone.

if LTHs aren't in the equation then the SS cans over the CF cans for same reasons. they are the lower pitched tone of the two options.

give tony or kevin at FI a call and they will walk you through it all. great guys at FI

I've always wanted to do some cut-outs with my FI LTH setup. Just don't know if it would affect the ECU tune or not. Plus not sure where to put them, but I think it would be loud and wonderful.

I do notice when I start my car the first time after I swap out the mufflers for no mufflers the idle jumps around a little most likely changing the fuel maps a bit on it's own.

not sure how far off it would be with the cutouts at the headers.

Oh really? i didnt know that CF and SS mufflers produce a different sound! Yes FI has great customer service. I talked to Kevin and said i wanted it to be deep but loud. He recommended 12 in resonators w SS mufflers and resonated TP. I got scared that 12 in resonators would be too quiet so Im going for non res

the resonators on the CBE itself do not change the exterior volume much at all. it's a small difference.

the resonators really just are there to mitigate the drone of the exhaust on the inside and eliminate some rasp.

volume comes from the CBE in general, removing the super restrictive stock cats, and then the different tones between the SS and CF muffles.

also the LTH and TPs have different sounds as well.

Thank you FPenvy. Im sure ill be happy w the non res cbe and test pipes then since I dont care about interior noise! Also, did it actually take the full 3 months for the FI exhaust to get there or did it come a little early??
