First intake arrived in UK and goes to a happy buddy and 370Z owner, gratz Paul
Can't wait for mine!

I worked for years in an aluminium casting foundry and am surprised that they didn't even clean the flashing off the parting lines. It only takes a minute and easy to do and cleans up the final product.....

After seeing how this pre-order debacle went, I am wondering why you are surprised :icon17:

Kris9884 08-25-2016 01:18 PM

So it does exist.. Did it come with gaskets or do you have to source those?

ANMVQ 08-25-2016 01:23 PM

Ok so 2k gets you a product that has not been proven to do anything:/. The CF inserts are stickers YOU HAVE to glue on, and it looks as ruff as hell, I'd bet the inside has lips where it was put together and not even smooth :/ UG:ugh2:

Independent dyno.

phunk 08-25-2016 08:43 PM

to be fair, to remove the parting lines would mean replacing them with grinding/sanding marks. I would probably leave it up to the customer what to do with it from there as well, unless I had an upgrade for full polishing of the entire thing.

I just want to know what they did about the upper to lower gasket. Do they provide a new flat gasket, instruct you to use silicone, or did they machine the flange to accept the factory o-ring type gasket? just curious.

octet 08-26-2016 02:52 AM

Hi Charles,

All gaskets are included with the intake, including the TB ones.

Sorry, I didn't take pics of the gaskets before shipping it out to the customer, but I'll ask Paul to take some and upload here.

I was going to say the same thing. For $2,000 I would fully expect there to be ZERO casting marks. What a joke.

Hey Guys! We decided to leave the casting marks as a company to preserve the natural finish many customers favor. This gives the customer a clean canvas and the opportunity to customize the intake manifold to their specific liking, and best suit their build!

So in other words, instead of cleaning off the casting marks you left them for the customer to clean off :icon08:

So, how about those results you've been avoiding sharing?

Michael, that's not what your original ad sold us on.

A flawed canvas you mean

Don’t waste the best years of your car’s life with a factory manifold that doesn’t meet your expectations. Dump the plastic, and use a manifold that’s worth showing off to your friends.

The final product is:
  • Aesthetically flawed by your own admission.
  • Clearly does not meet expectations that your own ad generated.
  • Show what off to my friends...the casting marks and glued on CF sticker?

Chuck33079 09-13-2016 11:23 AM

Seems to me like they threw a price out there and then couldn't make the numbers work if they added in the labor to finish it to the level you would expect from a part that costs this much, so they said "screw it" and shipped it out anyway.

And we all know there's only one reason why they wouldn't post the testing results. If it made gobs of power they'd be shouting it from the rooftops. No one gets to the "shipping completed product" stage without testing. Prove me wrong with a dyno sheet.

Be fair now, they haven't tested it yet...the paying customers just received what would've been the prototypes. :roflpuke2:

How bad did the first look if the picture above is the second try at a passable finish?

I'm not in the market for an intake manifold and I doubt anyone really gives a sh*t about my $.02, but this statement screams "laziness" when it comes to parts like these. Sounds like the time didn't want to be spent finishing these or the cost of outsourcing the finishing would bring the final cost of the product even higher.

If it were my company and my product, raw finished parts would have to be special ordered so they could be shipped prior to finishing. I wouldn't want "raw" to be the main image of one of my products. Imagine if Nissan showcased their car models in "raw" states. :icon17: (Blah blah, not the same, blah blah)

you guys have had 8 months to WOW us with this! instead it just fizzled away.. i probably would have been a buyer 7 months ago if you had Numbers..but instead its just delay delay delay with 0 testing.i think ill keep my Plastic manifold and wait for theses to go on a Liquidation sale for a 1/4 of the cost.

If I read his quote right, they came together as a company to make this decision :ugh2:

More like, these things are already way too expensive, so we can't spend any more on them.

Lol yea, but Mr. Marketing relit the fire, spinning a cost saving measure into a benefit for the buyers. :shakes head:

Of course that will get called out.

Over-promised and under-delivered. :ugh2:

NRGz 09-20-2016 12:52 AM

So.. Did the first customer just take and run? Hiding his massive # gains?

Maybe with a set of cams and headers it will make power.

mag_black 09-21-2016 08:42 PM

I'm surprised they don't some FI numbers, where this "should" shine.
