Default Motordyne ART + CBE too raspy?

Hi everyone - looking for some opinions,

I recently installed ART + e370 CBE. IMO sounds great in low rpm (and downshifts are spectacular), but it is a little too loud and raspy for me at higher rpms when you get on it.

Sounds exactly like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zQsb0_RAJ4

Not my taste. My taste is for a deeper and cleaner exhaust tone. My last car was a 350z HR with Invidia Gemini exhaust, Exoticspeed HFC and Stillen G2 intake - I loved the deep sound, I thought was perfect.

I was planning on getting Stillen G3 and full tune, but now I really can't stand the sound of the MD setup.

My question: I was going to get rid of the CBE, keep the ART pipes, and get different CBE...

Are the ART's the source of that raspy sound? Or will I be safe keeping the ART and getting different CBE for a deeper/fuller sound?

Thanks in advance!

I had ART pipes with my Borla cbe. I didn't think it was raspy, but was somewhat obnoxious and droned. I replaced them with Fast Intentions resonated cats and it smoothed things out, but still has a nice raw sound. Around town driving is much better, but it still has attitude when you push it.

I haven't made updated videos with the cats, but have these of with the ART pipes.

Thank you...maybe obnoxious is the word I was looking for.

If the ART's are the main source as opposed to just the CBE then will remove the whole system for something else...

Thanks for vids - your sound is very clean, more what I am looking for

Is the Y-pipe in your exhaust resonated?

I'm running Momentum headers, the ART pipes, and an Invidia catback and don't think it's very raspy and pretty drone-free to me. This is one of my autocross videos with an external mic by the license plate:

No, straight pipes. Anyone know how much a difference resonated makes to the tone and volume on this setup?

Also not a fan of the art/invidia setup posted, a little too buzzy for me. Looking for a deeper tone, but thanks.

If you were to have a resonated y-pipe it would make quite the difference depending ont he size of your resonator. And to note, once you switch to any type of pipe or cat that is not stock it will be raspy and it will drone a bit. The MD is a great exhaust. I would suggest trying a resonator on the y-pipe. That should reduce the sound a bit plus it would help with the drone. It will change the tone of the exhaust.

I'm just curious, because if you ordered the whole e370 exhaust the y-pipe should have been resonated... at least that's what it looks like in the pictures.

Thank you for the response, I think I will try the resonated route....I didn't even realize an option until the responses on this thread! very helpful.

I bought mine slightly used from a guy with a supercharged Z, and the component he had was a straight pipe. For some reason however the ART + e370 did not give his stillen supercharger full potential so he swapped out and I bought.
