Default FI Exhaust powder coating

Hey guys,

This is pretty simple. I hate polished mufflers, but I just bought a FI exhaust. I want to powdercoat it to match my wheels (a dark gunmetal).

Can anyone shed some light on whether or not your FI mufflers (Only the very last section, not the x pipe or anything) gets hot enough to interfere with regular powdercoat?

Thanks.

I watched some you tube video where they mentioned you can use plastidip. Haven't tried it myself but it's cheap enough you can try it before dumping $300 to powercoat the mufflers.

I had mine ceramic powder coated which held up just fine.

When I had my invidia gemini, I powdercoated the muffler, pipes to the tips and the tips. the pipes inbetween the tips and muffler burned off, but the muffler itself was fine.

I had my cans ceramic coated. Tony mentioned that powdercoating would get dinged up more from road debris.

I painted the exhaust of the wrx i had, all the way from the downpipe(which gets pretty hot) to the muffler with vht flame proof. Paint endured the last 3yrs of ownership
