Thats another thing.....I cant tell if its the hissing of the exhaust or a leak. LOL. I know that there is a slight leak...got to find a better gasket to seal it...but...maybe most of it is from the exhaust. I think that the exhaust change just amplified that hissing sound.

How are the F.I.L.T.H. ?? Heard and read good reviews on them. Technically I got the same thing with GTM resonated TPs and a full cat back system mix of Sunline and Amuse. The sounds between the two are VERY different though.

I hear a G37 with a FI exhaust and that one is low and pretty loud too.

Its most likely not an exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks sound very different than our engine hiss, and are very prominent. I dont really now how to explain that sound other than you would know the difference had you heard it; you would think your engine was broken. Its just hiss, and as far as I know, no one really knows what causes it or why its so prominent. My guess? VVEL. Just about everything weird or quirky about our engines all seems to stem from that.

As for the headers, I like them. A few friends have complimented the sound of my just driving around in light loads crusing, and the sound at WOT under full load combined with the intake is freaking loud, but sounds good. Power wise, its about the same as TP's. The TP and LTH perform very similar with only a few HP/TQ in the LTH's favor. I would hazard a guess that once some way to tune valve lift duration and overlap, we will see more benefit from NA and more notably FI aplications.

It also depends on when the hissing or leaking noise happens...

If you hear a noise while accelerating it's more than likely a leak...

If you hear a noise after a rev then it's more than likely the hissing noise mention aboved...which is somewhat normal...

coutesy nissan sell oem gaskets cheap...or at least that's where I order mines. You can also put the quick gasket ontop of the metal gasket to ensure a uber tight seal...

also thread locker helps preventing the exhaust nuts coming lose...

trust me someone can torque down and exhaust nut and under WOT...you'd probably be able to unloosen with your hand...

Ehhh...its probably the hissing from the normal sounds of the engine when "deloading" and on the off throttle position. Just that when they were installing the system...one of the flanges were warped and caused a big leak. They did manage to use a metal "crush" washer type to better seal one side and double gasket the other side...so I think that it is more of a mind thing...just because I knew it was leaking prior.

Think I am going to have to one day meet up with you guys just to "soothe" over my stupid paranoia. LOL.

Glad to hear that you like the F.I.L.T.H.'s though. It was expensive and I hear a pain to install for certain bolts.

It did sound good when you used to drive through town though.

Installing them was definately a lot of work, but the shop I had them installed at (Sonics) knew their way around a VQ. The work was done in about 4 hours and he already knew about the problem bolts. When it came time to remove them he busted out a massive 4'-5' breaker bar! The rest of the time I spent at the shop was dyno time. Highly recomend Sonics. Munkywurks didnt want to touch my car; He hates header installs on VQs.

Sonics does do good work. They did my GTM TP's and the springs. No issues and no damages to the car whatsoever.

Was sort of "pissed" when I had just bought my TP's then saw the first production of the FI headers....was like ....nuts...if I only read about it sooner. Anyhow, glad to hear that they are working well and are what was promised in regards to performance and no CEL codes. That was another big issue....I was fortunate with my rims as well. Got the TPMS to fit in there.

DJ Motorsports on Nimitz did that job. Will probably be going back to them again. Need to replace the rears already. Only 12K miles and down to like 5/10" of an inch.

Just random thoughts on a Monday.....

Writing to re-subscribe since I accidentally clicked the link on me e-mail and to tell my brother Z owners if you plan to DIY coilovers be very careful of the front lower strut nut and bolt. I stripped my nut this past weekend....that sounded funny....seriously I went and priced the nut at Nissan $2.01 and the bolt with the sway bar link $42.xx cost to fix it with Nissan without parts $125 any advice before I have them shrink my pocket. I did everything by the book cause I am one of those by the book kine people and well the bolt was over tightened and not to spec according to a few mechanics at Nissan. Lesson learned still going to do my suspension but have to wait for nut and bolt. What do you guys think

If it was just a nut and bolt kind of a thing...then you can check out this place:

Hawaii Nut & Bolt

Its close to Infiniti. Buuutt..if it is a Nissan part (non-nut and bolt) then well...yup...sorta SOL. Get it from Nissan. If you want it done and put back the same way....in the end...you are going to have to get the OEM part...assuming that you need more than just a nut and bolt. Though....it sounds like you already made this assumption. Hang in there, get the part, pay the $$ then just forget about it.

Hellaflush soon?

Sadly, it's going to be the same cars... I wish the cars who weren't "hellaflush" not enter. I swear, I see better looking cars in the parking lot. But that's with all of them car shows...

I'd choose a NSX over a dumped s13 anyday...

No idea for the rant. Guess i'm just sick and tired of not being able to drive my car...

Parts are for the most part...always on backorder. That is not a priority on the production side. Well...it was that way when I had my G35 as well at least.

BTW...you know that you are going to HAVE TO get recon to pass safety for the next safety inspection right? Coilovers are going to get flagged real fast and for the most part fail you at the inspection stations. Everyones "hook ups" are going to get tighter and tighter since the stations are getting caught more and subjected to higher fines and penalties.

Not trying to rain on your parade....just making sure know that a recon will be needed. Sheriffs......love to ticket people.

Agreed. Most of the people that just like to tinker with their cars are not show type people.

Wasnt there a NSX for sale at that used car lot near 49'ers? Could of sworn I saw a red one with those weird euro exhaust tips...you know...the ones that are angled upwards and catch all the rain. LOL.
