Oh - let's let him share that information - not sure if he wants the info out yet as the build is not complete.

We ran into an issue with his previously boost controller which prevented us from pushing it any further, but we were well on pace for 800+ WHP

I didn't want it too loud. And the system made an extra 40whp over my ark system before retuning.

Just FYI if anyone reads my previous questions about trying to fit the Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Dual Port.

The passenger side will not fit without modifications to the mount. However, the driver side doesn't seem to have any clearance issue.

I really want to see videos of this. I may look into going this route. Is there a reason you went with modifying the mount rather than using block off plates and welding BOV flanges on the intercooler tubing?

I wanted to try these dual port valves out because they are 50% atmospheric and 50% recirculating. The hope is to get the BOV salute but still keep some of the benefits of the recirculating design. To put the block off plates and traditional BOVs would mean to not get any of the recirculating benefits at all.

Rid3_FaM0uS 03-04-2015 10:27 AM

Actually Synapse offers a recirc/atmospherically ventalated BoV and are arguably the nicest designed and most advanced BoV on the market

tonyHTX 03-04-2015 01:47 PM

^ Is that what you are using? I think you have the AAM kit as well right? Does it fit in the EFR housing?

My question wasn't clear. I understand the desire for having dual port. I was wondering why you went with cutting the mount rather than running block off plates and dual ports on flanges.

Rid3_FaM0uS 03-05-2015 10:08 AM

yes, I have installed the kit on my own car as well. However, I tried to do something a little different than your situation. I opted to test fit an aftermarket wastegate design with no luck. The canisters are far too large for the space provided to work with, so I decided to stick with the factory high boost BW wastegate actuators.

Aviator - in all honesty the amount of material he removed for the mount probably has little to no effect on the rigidity or integrity of the mount. Its very well built, and I would argue its probably stronger even than the cast aluminum ones that come factory on the car.

Ryan, maybe this will help answer what I think you are asking. Borg Warner designed the recirculating valves to reduce lag when you're off the throttle (e.g. shifting gears). Instead of dumping out through an atmospheric blow off valve, they recirculate back through the compressor housing to provide faster response once you're back on the throttle. The hybrid versions give you the staple bov sound (though it may be a bit quieter) yet still provide some benefit from the recirculating setup. :)

Only big issue is the passenger return line was routed up around the oil filter so some oil got backed up into the turbo and smoked up the place. That got fixed before the video was taken though. Hopefully I should be driving her around to break in the motor next week!

I see where the confusion is coming from now:rofl2:. I didn't mean to imply him running full vta bovs instead of the 50/50. I was asking about his choice of mounting location. I understand the EFRs built in features and their benefits. I also understand though the desire to sacrifice some of the benefits of full recirc in order to gain that distinctive bov sound with a dual port.

I was curious why he decided to cut the mount (potentially sacrificing its strength) and bolt the Turbosmart Dual ports directly to the EFR Turbos rather than spending the extra time to weld flanges for them. I haven't seen the mount "pre-cut" so I wasn't sure how much material had been removed or if it was jeopardizing the mounts structural integrity. As Rid3_Famous pointed out this shouldn't be a concern so Tonys method will work just fine.

I think that is where the confusion is. Because of the design of the CRV being in the housing, I don't think it is possible to relocate it. Or if there is, there isn't any off the shelf product that can do it. Since it seemed like you were suggesting to use the block off plate and adding flanges to the charge pipes I think we all misunderstood, as using the block off plates means recirculation is no longer possible.

Here is how the mount looks uncut. I think the bulk of the support is the gusset area as opposed to what was removed. Probanly 2/3rds of the M is missing now on mine.

http://i58.tinypic.com/r0a4i9.jpg

Also I posted a video of the first start in case you missed it, although the sound is kind of bad it can give you a slight idea. I'll definitely be recording more in the future!
