Since the power is so low at 3750 we can tell that they started the recording before going full throttle. so the graph posted above isnt a representation of turbo response at lower RPM.

That's a good catch! Any idea why these AAM kits don't seem to make as much torque as the other turbo kits?

Super Werty 12-16-2014 08:08 PM

It could either be in the tuning, intentional or not... or the turbos are just a little larger than average. It seems to be right around in line with what my Greddy 20gs were doing. It might be a sign that the turbos will be able to push really far if everything else keeps up.

ghotnit 12-16-2014 08:43 PM

It was stated the tuning wasn't complete yet.

Quote:

Quick Note: We understand this vehicle has not yet been fully tuned for low throttle and Z1 was kind enough to post up the initial video without completing all aspects of tuning. Thanks to the team at Z1 for getting this up so quickly!

I start recording as soon as I hit the throttle.

John@Z1 12-17-2014 10:01 AM

Here's another where I started the run a bit earlier.

That's awesome power and comes on nice and smooth. Should be a joy to drive on the street!

Yeah just pick the car up from Z1. It's running really good! Pulls hard! We got it set at 560whp on low boost. In case anyone is wondering, we did not try to go above 609whp at 9.5 psi. I told them to stop at 9.5 psi cause I did not want to push it anymore. My initial goals was 550whp and I was more than satisfied with what I made.:happydance:

You're only about 6hrs away from AAM right? If I were you I would drive there tonight for the free install and/or the 3" exhaust! :rofl2:

nguy3nt0mmy21 12-22-2014 05:07 PM

Also for anyone that was concern about this kit not running traditional BOVs, don't worry! You can't tell the difference.
It's not as loud but it doesn't mean you can't hear it. It's still VERY noticeable. I wasn't expecting how loud it was going to sound, wouldn't change a thing! ;)

batboyvaj 12-22-2014 09:58 PM

those are some killer deals

ATLz 12-27-2014 08:28 AM

Maybe I missed it but do you have to remove the motor for the install?? Also at power levels you tested how did the stock MAF's hold up or is it safe to say aftermarket MAF's would need to be purchased??

john26jm 12-27-2014 08:30 AM

For my install we had to remove the motor and I did purchase z- mad upgrade I just did it to be on the safe side

ATLz 12-27-2014 09:06 AM

If the motor didn't have to be pulled I would consider it...

john26jm 12-27-2014 09:12 AM

It's a tight fit thats why

Installing any TT kit is going to start with pulling the motor.

Kit must come with 3" intakes

john26jm 12-28-2014 06:24 PM

Hey max I was going to ask what made aam competition go with the Borg warner efr turbos rather than Garrett or Precision turbos, besides trying to make the kit a OEM style turbo kit?

Taken from the OP,

Quote:

Q - What size is the intercooler tubing?
A - To achieve lightning fast response and maximum power we utilize 2 x 2.5" tubing from the turbochargers to the intercooler. This is the optimal size to keep the system pressurized and limit the pressure drop, but big enough to sustain high HORSEPOWER. The intercooler piping post intercooler (from the intercooler to the engine/throttle bodies) is twin 2 ¾" light weight aluminum piping which is fully polished for "show car" quality look.

It seems your question was already answered by this awesome community, but to confirm Yes - your engine WILL have to be removed for installation of the AAM Competition Twin Turbocharger System.

Our media department converted the numbers to engine HP and that was Ridefamous (Rid3_FaM0uS)- 740ish to the wheels. We will see him back here in a few months to push the barrier even more.

Edit: added correct forum name Rid3_FaM0uS
