GTM TWIN TURBO install at HP Logic

Well it has been few weeks of working on it and being one of the first so some learning curve and working with Sam on some parts issues.

But she is alive

Awesome, I love seeing a fellow Z getting TT'd. Before I bought mine, I asked on the forums if I should. lol I got so many people saying its too much of a hassle and work but I had a 350z TT before and it wasn't that bad. I am just glad to see someone who took the jump and did a great job of it

westpak 09-22-2009 04:47 PM

if you had a 350Z TT before it is wont be much of a difference experience wise other than the additional intake.

the GTM kit is a nice one, parts look good.

SgtGoldy 09-22-2009 04:48 PM

Awesome thanks

dainedazz 09-22-2009 05:05 PM

we are having some paint work done on the car as well

myfirstz 09-22-2009 05:38 PM

I like the sound of the engine. Niceeeeee. I can't wait to TT my Z! :driving:

Nixlimited 09-22-2009 06:38 PM

Is that car running straight exhaust right now? I mean, you can hear the turbos in there WAY more than the other videos.

Wow...that sounds badass.

I retract my previous statement of it being too tame from the test-drive video. :)

westpak 09-22-2009 07:17 PM

yeah it sounds crazy, but that is because it only has the down pipes, so between the pipes being 3 inches an no exhaust it rumbles like crazy

we have to do the exhaust tomorrow, some custom work on the current exhaust

HP Logic 09-22-2009 07:20 PM

Prelimenary tests and adjustments have gone smoothly....we are looking to get the exhaust finished up and hopefully have some power tuning done by weeks end....so far the car is responding very well and the fit & finish of the GTM kit is fantastic...there are a few slight modifications and procedures that must be accomplished to get this project done....but in all we are very pleased so far!....stay tuned!....

how long does a GTM kit like this take to install and tune?

once all of the "bugs" are worked out it should take about the same amount of time as any other VQ TT install....but being the first comes at a price....there are always small adjustmenst and modifications that must be made to benefit the proceeding kits sold.....

Me impressed, me come by when powertrain warranty says bye-bye.

Me not sure if I can handle 450+ dyno'd HP, but me drove stock Viper before enough to scare the bejizzles outta me.

Can this setup keep up w/ stock Viper? Or even beat it?

Sharif@Forged 09-22-2009 08:59 PM

Great work guys! Are you planning to tune with the Cobb AP or UpRev reflash?

ssqpolo 09-22-2009 09:15 PM

I get dibs on a ride!

That kit looks amazing and sounds amazing! you guys sure have shown dedication to finishing this project fast. You are so lucky to be in Florida! I hate living in cali just for this reason alone. I have quite a few friends who paid big bucks for stuff like this but have been sent to a referee on a stop for window tint! Great job guys!

Holy crap, if I can make my Z sound like that (turbo or not) that'd the ticket. Turbo backs up that growl, but holy crap.

EDIT, read other posts that's not a complete exhaust...hmm...straight pipes? LOL - that sounds too damn good but I'm sure it's louder than hell.

NewlyIMPORTed 09-22-2009 11:35 PM

what boost are you running on this turbo?

shabarivas 09-23-2009 12:52 AM

and where are you guys located??

AH370Z 09-23-2009 02:08 AM

Why does it sound like a tractor?

molamann 09-23-2009 04:26 AM

Car sounds like a 2-stroke motorcycle during idle imo. :O

G37Sam 09-23-2009 06:57 AM

Give it sometime till the exhaust comes in guys, it's not ready yet

CBRich 09-23-2009 07:03 AM

You may want to reAd before you post. It clearly states that the exhaust is not complete. Looks great though. I can't wait to see the dyno.

We are going to give the Cobb a shot, so far Jack put it in and adjusted the fuel and working so, we will see how it goes when we tune

As mentioned the exhaust is not finished that is just with down pipes, once exhaust is on it will sound great, and we went with open dumps so when in boost it should sound great

RCZ 09-23-2009 09:00 AM

mmmm open dumps....that should sound nice... nice and loud...

nogoodname 09-23-2009 09:15 AM

that's not loud.... wait til the rest gets put on and it will be quieter

RCZ 09-23-2009 10:53 AM

^no ****, but when the wastegates open all hell breaks loose, its practically open headers. Which should sound pretty damn good/loud on the 6. Any creative accommodations for the dump tubes btw? or are they just pointing down?

...they have a nice little curve to them to direct the spent flow out of harms way...

So does the standard GTM kit use plumb-back tubing or what?

this was the kit with the external wastegates and you have the option to use open dumps or return it to the exhaust

ssqpolo 09-23-2009 07:33 PM

im not kidding. i want a ride!

im new to the turbo word so forgive me if this is a noob question. But whats the pro's and con's of both open dump and return

The pro of open dumps is less restriction in the exhaust as it send the wastegate exhaust out to atmoshpere, so it helps with maintaining boost and not slowing down the turbos once you reach desired boost, the con or pro to some is that it will be loud once the wastegates open up.

I love scaring people with mine, specially if they cut me off

Snakes709 09-23-2009 07:49 PM

is that why the bov sounds really long? its not a quick little blow off, its quite long.

It should not really affect the BOV
