Wow. That's a fantastic price. A few follow on questions:
Are there coated bearings available?
Can you have the crank nitrided, or is it that way from the factory?
Would it help to send you the flywheel we're going to use so you can balance it together?

There are no bearings available other than OEM. They are the same ones that come in the GTR.

Crank is OEM however we drop it below -300 and up to +250 for 24hrs.

I have a OEM flywheel and balancer here at the shop.

Nobody makes coated OEM bearings?

So we'd only need to send you a flywheel if we were planning on using an aftermarket one and we wanted everything balanced together?

Why is that?

I got an email from ACL saying that they have main bearings and thrust washer for the Z and GTR. No conrod bearings though.

Chuck33079 03-05-2014 11:12 AM

How the hell do they not have a full set if they're the same as the GTR?

Chuck33079 03-05-2014 11:13 AM

And can we just send a set of OEM bearings to Calico and get them coated?

Ron 03-05-2014 11:28 AM

Yes we can.

Ron 03-05-2014 11:30 AM

Part number is 4M2505H for the set of same sized bearings and 1M2505H for individual graded bearings. Thrust washer part number is 1T2505

Man that's a great price!

Ron 03-05-2014 11:39 AM

I was told by several people to just run coated OEM instead... not sure why

Edit: Actually not several.. more like a couple of people.

Suggestions regarding the oil pump. That seems to be a weak issue with this engine.
Other than the NISMO race pump for $$$$, Any ideas on blue printing or upgrading internal rotor

I had a couple of my rifles "cryo'd" a few years back, makes the metal stronger and more heat resistant.

I can think of a couple choices for our OEM crank bearings: coatings and shot peening. I might consider shot peening various engine parts. If possible, perhaps coat it as well.
