VSR Engine Build

2 Attachment(s)
Hey just a little update for you guys and Cosmogirl.

We blueprinted the engine and it came out liked factory. VERY happy with the spec's.
From the pic's you can see the new CP 10:1 & K1 Rods

Chuck33079 03-03-2014 09:47 AM

Very nice. Do you think you could shoot me a pm with an approximate cost to build me one? I don't need one now, but if I ever need a new motor I'll be damned if I don't upgrade while I'm at it.

Same boat. A PM would be much appreciated!

DIGItonium 03-03-2014 10:52 AM

Ditto! I still have my Z. :p

Mr&Mrs 03-03-2014 10:55 AM

May as well add me to that list. Maybe group buy?

SRperformance 03-03-2014 01:34 PM

Group Buy anyone?

Chuck33079 03-03-2014 01:36 PM

I wouldn't be interested in a group buy, since I'd rather not have to store it until I need it. I was just hoping to get a price quote and the turnaround time. I've been following Cosmo's build, so I'm familiar with the specs.

OMGWTFBBQ 03-03-2014 01:41 PM

Yeah. Can you please PM me pricing on what a ballpark estimate would be like to build a setup similar to Cosmogirl's?

Thank you in advance!

future370zzz 03-03-2014 02:44 PM

I'm not that familiar with what goes into an engine build but could you please PM me also with costs and timing as well? Just for reference.

For an "engine build" does it mean upgraded/strengthen:

-Rods
-Pistons
-Studs?
-Head? Top of motor? needed?
-Bottom? lower portion of motor? needed?

This is all I know about building an engine for more boost.

COSMO 03-03-2014 03:56 PM

Keep in mind with internal parts there are less expensive ways to go that will be fine. Off the shelf pistons will be a lot less than custom ones. I' planning on doing a full write up on everything when on my built motor when it's all together and running to give you guys some peace of mind...

Talk about bad timing. :( The company I work for is up for sell. :( So I'm watching my pennies for now.

RyanWest 03-03-2014 11:55 PM

Is this motor gonna be boosted?

Block Guard Blocks

This is something I'm considering doing to the VQ platform. We are having great success with our Subaru Blocks! ETS made 830hp on our block, PRS WRC Rally car with NO wastegate came in first place. These are not just off the shelf press in guards. We actually machine the block and deck it. Let me know if there is a market for them..Thanks!

Chuck33079 03-04-2014 06:53 PM

Has anybody else gotten a quote from these guys?

elperuano 03-04-2014 07:13 PM

I never did.

Mr&Mrs 03-04-2014 07:27 PM

Nope

MyKindaGuise 03-04-2014 07:33 PM

Nope.

COSMO 03-04-2014 08:20 PM

What are you guys waiting for?

OMGWTFBBQ 03-04-2014 08:21 PM

We have money burning a hole in our pockets and we're waiting on a price tag for an engine build lol.

Waiting on your build! Wanna see and read ur review on ur experience with them.

COSMO 03-04-2014 08:35 PM

You can best believe the review will be honest and thorough. VSR does not sponsor me in any way nor giving me any discounts or perks on this transaction.

Ron 03-04-2014 08:41 PM

sub'd!

blackonorange 03-04-2014 09:37 PM

yea id like a quote to on this type of build...

RyanWest 03-04-2014 09:50 PM

Are you asking about the 10:1 pistons? It increases the the low boost performance by raising pressures to spool the turbos faster and provide more torque, of course anyone going over 15psi would be better off with the current 9:1 offerings as eventually with more boost the higher ratio is going to raise pressures too high. but for the guys in the 550-700 range it will be a more efficient built motor.

At high power levels the 9:1 motor will see less stress than the 10:1 motor, but the 10:1 more will make more power for the amount of charge it gets.

ZKraken22 03-04-2014 10:40 PM

I never understood why the price can't be out in the open. Why send a private pm?

blackonorange 03-04-2014 11:57 PM

^ yea I'm not sure why. I guess to some ppl it's too personal

Mr&Mrs 03-05-2014 01:16 AM

Some people get better prices by being smooth talkers.

Or by giving back alley handies....I like to try and smooth talk.....first....

No smooth talk....just the handy...just don't look into my eye's.

To make a estimate I need more info from you guys.

1) Rebuild your current engine?
2) New bare block from Nissan?
3) Does everyone want the same CP Pistons
4) K1 Rods?
5) Cryo treatment?
6) L19's
7) Balance?
8) Build a short Block? Or long Block
9) Are you shipping the car down for the install

Building estimates are very time consuming and each and every one of you could want something different. I post up some prices for a brand new short block.

plus if we do a group buy, you guys will receive a better price on the pistons and rods.

I look forward to building all you guys a engine
Thanks
Bobby

Chuck33079 03-05-2014 08:00 AM

Like I said before, no interest on a group buy. I would hope you would be open to selling me a built short block without the group buy. I was hoping to get a quote to recreate Cosmo's build with a fresh block, and also if I shipped you my block.

Ok, will do. can you PM me your email address? I will shoot you over a estimate.

Mr&Mrs 03-05-2014 08:52 AM

Since I am local I would just let you use my current block. I like cosmos build as well. Almost forgot any alleys near the new shop? I haven't made it out to it yet.

hahahahahahahahah:rofl2:

SRperformance 03-05-2014 09:39 AM

By the way how soon are you guys looking to do a build?

Chuck33079 03-05-2014 09:41 AM

No time soon for me. I just want a number in mind if I ever need to do it.

Closed deck goodness! I would be interested. Is this something that you can do now if I were to send you a block or is R&D needed for our blocks?

Chuck33079 03-05-2014 10:05 AM

Doesn't the Z run hot anyway? How much more heat are we going to be dealing with on a closed deck block?
