Mine are fine, I was just looking to get a set to have in reserve if/when they ever **** the bed. The new gtm/gamma claims they can get me a set whenever I need, but I doubt it. Gamma is just the same pile of **** in a new wrapper.

I actually managed to get a new set from sam about almost a year ago but let them go when I sold my gtm kit.. Excited to see the upcoming z since it should be on the same platform as the 2017 Q60... Imagine a car already fast is so much easier making it FASTER....!!!! Speaking of that I think Nissan should release the new z right as toyo come out with the new supra!!!

The closed deck, is that basically a block guard inserted in the block? Also what do you think caused the failure? One last thing, are you using OEM main bolts or do you have ARP mains?

I was running oem mains and L19 head studs. I honestly think a combination of the engine build but mainly tune is what did it. The cylinder didn't crack but basically melted due to the tune. Found out later my bore was not correct to match my pistons causing piston slap.. 96mm from cp calls for 3.78 bore diameter (clearance 0.0035), mine was 3.5 Also my L19's were only torqued to 85.. He also fried my ecu and I was missing a motor mount bolt on the passenger side when the car came back.
This time around I am going with arp mains and I'm very confident in bryan building my motor this time around.. He's a really dedicated enthusiast.

Turns out my internals are good but will replace the bearings and maybe pistons rings. Had my lower intake ported and polished and few other flow issues addressed. New block is at the machine shop soon to be bored and everything balanced.

Looks like the head gasket went right at the water jacket. Once that happened the block let go. Any pitting on the head gasket fire ring?

Were the piston skirts damaged? What was the measurements of the pistons? How much clearance did you have. Sometimes with tight clearances it can cause the rings to break. Any rings in pieces?

YES

Believe it or not the rings were fine (fully intact) but the head on the drivers side head was damaged..

Ugg, the machine work makes or breaks a motor build. Best parts in the world won't cover that up.

COSMO 03-17-2016 09:32 PM

I actually made a mistake on the clearances from I wrote the first time but it's corrected now..

1 Attachment(s)
CP 10.1, 96mm pistons..
Compliments from bryan..

Good luck continuing forward. You definitely deserve a finished build thread - can't wait to see it

Just got word my engine bore and acid dip is Done!!!! Stay tuned for pics.. Had my injectors sent to FIC to be checked and cleaned and they checked out just fine. Bobby even tried to say the reason why my engine blew could have been due to a leaky injector, in his words {AN ACT OF GOD). Can't begin to tell you how many times god has spoken to bobbys work... lol

COSMO 03-26-2016 09:09 PM

Also forgot to mention everything balanced and cranked polished by bryan.. Going to go ahead and order new rings and bearings before the assembly..
