Going with a Defi red racer boost gauge and Aeroforce Analogic with oil pres/afr combo.

Gonna try and order the 1.5 kit today or monday

ANMVQ 09-13-2013 11:55 AM

Nice man would be nice the see the huge WHP increase. GL man.

snowsurfdirtx 09-14-2013 02:39 PM

Thanks man. I'll be updating a lot with pics and if I don't get too busy, video updates.
Also gonna try and dyno with stock cats and art pipes on FI non-res cbe.

Any other requests / pics when I begin the build I'll try to get it done

Order going in on monday :)

When you go stage 2 is the only difference the larger -91 trim Rotrex?

Reason I ask is because...

I was the first to run the -91 on my Toyota Tacoma. Underdog Racing Development made the kit with a -81 but I asked for a -91 with a larger pulley.

What we ended up finding out was that I was making way more midrange power and a peak of about 450rwhp on a less aggreesive timing map on only 9.7 psi. While the guys running the -81 trim made less midrange and took a whopping 15 psi to hit 450rwhp.

The -91 trim also provided significantly lower boost temps

Wonder if GTM has tried the -91 with a larger pulley.

The 1.5 kit does use the smaller blower but it provides more mid range torque and in my case it has also given me more hp than stage 2.

I am curious what you are comparing to? Did you try stage 2 and then go back to 1.5?

There is no one on this forum with stage 1,1.5,2 that has more power than me plus dyno results are on the forum.

Anyone with Stage 2 and the same supporting mods as you? Same tuning? too many factors...not saying you are wrong, I believe you have the highest hp but the -91 is a larger more efficient blower

It doesn't matter how efficient it is it doesn't make more power and thats whats important.

Sure it does. The -91 trim flows 11% more than the -81. You may have the record for now, but I have no doubt someone running a -91 will be able to easily surpass your hp and torque curve

more air and less heat is going to make more power. I would say for now you probably have a superior tune than others with a stage 2

Not just for now but the last 2.5 years ,thats alot of kits sold since then.:tiphat:

Mr&Mrs 09-15-2013 08:24 PM

I thought Jamaica was close to 550 WHP with the Stage 2 kit and he blew his 7AT then sold the car.

Thats right, I did just find one of Sams dynos Stage 2 stock exhaust and cats 523.9 HP 372.1 TQ on 11 PSI

But the thing that not a lot of people know is that they use the smallest pulley possible to get those numbers,I should know I tried to buy that pulley from Sam he won't sell it to me claiming it will over spin the blower.

Mr&Mrs 09-15-2013 08:48 PM

Sounds like a conspiracy to not hurt Stage 2 sales :icon17:

Nobody has noticed that no matter what kit you buy no one that I know of has beat their numbers sounds fishy.

Super Werty 09-15-2013 09:10 PM

well again not really talking so much about peak numbers here. Looking for the curve.

Congrats on your kit though, good power. Just not enough for me

here is a link about the whole stage 2 kit, note the 523/372 run thats with the 84mm pulley that he won't sell anybody it is basically a show off pulley that no one gets.

Super Werty 09-15-2013 09:42 PM

That is interesting...

Regarding the pulley though, why not have one custom made?

I'm going to Z Nationals Oct 4-6 I have been dialing in my tune for a while now ,I think I have it as good as it gets,I going to put it back on their dyno and see what happens I'm hoping for 520-525 rwhp and 385-400 rwtq.

pokeyl 09-15-2013 09:52 PM

It takes more power to spin the -91 (looking at the numbers I would say 12-13% MORE), so you end up with a loss as it only pumps 11% more air...

What numbers are you referring to?

------------------- C38-61 C38-71 C38-81 C38-91/92
Max flow rate Mflow 0.48 kg/s 0.55 kg/s 0.58 kg/s 0.63 kg/s
Max pressure ratio 2.90 2.82 2.85 2.94

Air flow as listed by Rotrex

There is no free lunch, so to compress more air takes more power.

I am still looking for a compressor map for the -91

snowsurfdirtx 09-16-2013 02:07 PM

there is no free lunch. well worded sir lol

i'm calling the shop in a bit. i'm slightly hungover and my coffee has yet to kick in.

Baer, I'm interested in what you put down at Z Nationals. looks like i should start gathering info and tune my own stuff. lol

snowsurfdirtx 09-16-2013 04:56 PM

order is done! looks like i'll get an early birthday present this year.

YOU'LL LOVE IT:driving:

fryzia23 09-17-2013 11:12 AM

you will love it and the as a DIY, its a very fun but sometimes frustrating project. When I had mine installed and ready to fire, my heart was racing while pressing the start button cause you never know :rofl2:
Once it all set and running good, its very satisfying feeling to finish it yourself. Best of luck once again!

thanks man. yeah, i appreciate all the help and info I've gotten from everyone here and I think i'm ready. I love doing my own work. only thing i'm not looking forward to is the power steering lines and figuring out where to mount my gauges. i'm so indecisive sometimes lol

plus, all my labor costs = just beer and snacks. lol

I did my install in stages, one per weekend

1st Fuel pump (had a second pump from E-bay)

2nd Injectors (just change the "K Factor" in your standard tune) runs fine

3rd The big weekend, all others.

Mine is a DD and I wanted to know I had the little things right before I started... no leaks in the fuel system and a good set of injectors.

I did not use the PS line kit, I made the stock High pressure line work, the low side I used some extra hose. Good Luck

Baer: Thanks, I will keep that in mind, I really appreciate it.

pokeyl: Good to know, thanks man. How long did the 3rd weekend take? I'm guessing with the cable, I can change the "K Factor" with my laptop? I'd love to learn how to tune myself.

I have my Jeep for DD duties while she's down. Gonna try and install gauges next week maybe. I gotta order those sometime this week. Where did you guys tap in for your boost gauge?
