After that, start a budget, purpose of build, etc. and see where you end up (mainly on budget). Once that is done you can really get into what is best for you, either system would be great (TT or SC or even single T).

All of the above. Call everybody that makes a FI kit and talk to them. Also, decide what kind of dyno you want that 500whp to be on. There can be a huge difference in what you need to hit 500whp on some Dynojets vs. some Mustangs. What kind of gas do you have access to? That'll have some impact on what setup you would need to hit 500whp.

See if any of the guys in your area have similar setups and bribe them with a six pack for a ride. Plan for the build to take 50% more time and money than you originally thought, and allow for that in your plan. If you don't spend it all that's fine, but it beats running out of money in mid-build. Whether you decide to go with a TT or SC setup, budget in the necessary supporting mods.
