Hit up GaleForce for gauge pod options.

Hey Tony,

I saw you guys are running a 6852 housing on the Carbon Z. Is that nomenclature based on a precision turbo base? I see your running Xona CHRA thats sweet. Tell me more about those turbo's I cant find any information on that housing from Tial or anywhere else.

Thanks!

Correct me if I am wrong here but Tial labels there housings for Garrett based GT35 turbos as the following:

AR 1.03 = 3053
AR .86 = 2853
AR .64 = 4653

This is based on their technical drawings.

Carbon_z 08-18-2015 04:33 PM

That's because you have the numbers wrong. I am not running 2586/6852.

You are correct, but your second line has the wrong AR size to number size.

AR .82 = 2853 Flipped around: 35 frame, .82 AR.

Carbon_z 08-18-2015 05:43 PM

2853 not 2586 ;)

Yeah their technical document attached here has it labelled the way you have it posted I must have typo'd that 82 with an 86:

bullitt5897 08-18-2015 05:50 PM

So Tony what are the specs on these housings? I am curious on how they relate to other GT35 sized housings and what kind of characteristics they would have on their compression map.

if the naming convention is flipped around which kinda makes sense I guess. Would that make the 6852 a 25 series with and .86 AR?

EDIT:

I see its a 28 series Frame with and .86 AR

Welcome. There was never a group buy. All kits are individually ordered and individually made by FI with love.

We aren't quite ready to give out all the specs just yet. Results first...then will share pages upon pages of specs.

But to give you some idea, a pair of these turbos will flow 1200lb/min of airflow at just 30psi relative pressure, while still maintaining over 75% efficiency. On paper, this is enough to make 1200whp without even pushing the turbos. Tony and I spent hours and hours making these decisions and put a great deal of time and thought into it. I can't wait to see what it does! I have no doubt that FI has provided supplied the best kit possible. Now the rest is up to me and my team to deliver an experience that Moses will be more than proud of.

Spooler 08-18-2015 10:24 PM

Hope the list of additional mods is as long as my arm to improve the airflow on the intake and exhaust sides along with the normal rods, pistons, de-compress,etc. This will be interesting, that's for sure.

I think you meant 120lbs/min not 1200lbs/min... even so with two turbos able to flow that much air you would be able to deliver way more than 1200whp... from my under standing a safe guestimate would be 9.5-10.5hp per 1lbs/min... with two turbos that is 240lbs/min (~2400hp)... This must be the holy grail of freaking turbos! Why aren't the GTR guys running this?!?!?!

I would love to see the compressor map of this turbo! it must be near horizontal to get that much flow!

EDIT:

I see you wrote a Pair will flow 120lbs/min @ 30psi... now that is more realistic if you are indeed speaking of them as a pair... even so @ 30psi that would be 1200 Crank HP and given a 15% drivetrain loss thats right at 1050 to the wheels which is still impressive! So is it that each is flowing 120 or each is flowing 60lbs/min? Thanks for your explanation.

Carbon_z 08-19-2015 10:25 AM

These turbos werent cheap... lots of Porsche 911 turbos are running it.

no one said anything about the price of the turbos... yes lots of Porsche's run alpha turbos from Tial but then again the ones running the 28 series framed turbos are only running 600-800hp. Granted I do not believe yours are exactly the same as those in the porsche kits and that is a different motor.

I am still curious to see the compressor maps. 75% efficiency is nice but anyone who can read compressor maps knows that there are alot of factors in determining if the selected turbo will fit your application and build. knowing the compressor maps we can plot out your theoretical HP limits of your turbos for your motor size.

I already know that I need to be in between a GTX35R and a GTX4202R for the power levels I want... but again knowing our space constraints and the size of housings the only way for me to achieve those is to go to a front mount turbo manifold. I am still going through various compressor maps of different turbos to determine the best solution.

Good luck and I hope you guys can post the compressor maps. If anything it would be informative for the community. If your numbers are true you are flowing as much as a GTX35 in a GTX28 sized turbine frame! That is quite an accomplishment.

So did his! But all is well now. It was the solenoid for the brake. We will be back at it next Monday to hopefully wrap her up and get her home to Cy.

I'm not sure they can legally post the maps. I know some time ago they (tial) were not able to, but the relationship with Garrett has changed(ended?) so...maybe?!

Well .... My turbo set up is ready !!!! I am driving all the way from Billings, MT to see Tony and spend some time with him as well as picking up my kit. I will email you the exact date and time.....

Any way, I finally met Tony and Dan today and picked up the TT setup. Man, long drive but pretty fun on a 4runner. A lot of stuff to bring back here as you all know.

Tony was very professional and I was very impressed with the "Large Corporation Mentality" Quality Control that he is exercising for his customers. Pretty damn thorough and time consuming. I am impressed since I used to work for large OEM companies including Intel, IBM, KLA Tencor... etc and I see that he is not much different than the QA departments there.

I am on my way back to Montana. Just about to leave the hotel ....

Will post more later on.....

Tony was willing to spend even more times if needed. Unfortunately, I had to go back since it is going to be a real long drive

Thanks Tony and Dan. You are the men. I will be in touch soon
