For you guys running e85, how far and how low are you going in the tank before filling up?

hjo1078 09-12-2015 02:34 PM

Keep above 1/3. I get fuel starvation with over half a tank of gas. So becareful on those hard right turns.

Not asking about fuel starve. There aren't many e85 stations around here so just wondering how many miles between fill-ups.

hjo1078 09-12-2015 03:27 PM

like mileage wise ? i'll monitor mine a bit better next time I fill up, but I'm not getting much more than 200 miles between fill ups, but I also don't let it get to a quarter tank either. Did you get the flex fuel kit bruce ?

Rob298mx 09-12-2015 04:04 PM

What HKS plugs do they recommend again? I am running the GTR plugs but they seem to be a step hotter then the recommended HKS plugs

brucelidat 09-12-2015 04:15 PM

I am considering going tt and possibly flexfuel, just wondering about mileage since the e85 stations aren't common here.

djtodd 09-12-2015 04:16 PM

The performance is amazing, but just get the flex fuel unless your area is flush with e85 stations.

I probably go 250ish before refueling normally. But then again there are a ton of stations around me.

I think flex fuel is def in ur best interest. I dont have too many e85 stations around either closest one is 16 miles out so im using about two gallons just to go pump e85. Lol but honestly when u go e85 ur not gonna want to use pump gas anymore. I only pump 93 when its an emergency

How low does your tank get at 250 miles? There is one e85 station about 3 miles from me. Next closest one, though is like 25-30 miles away.

djtodd 09-12-2015 04:21 PM

I get 16-17mpg on an average tank.

hjo1078 09-12-2015 04:27 PM

By 250 miles im close to 3 dots. But it also depends on ur driving style. If ur having fun ur gonna use up more fuel. Lol

I can't wait, I went flex fuel and will be picking my z up soon. The nearest e85 is about 110 mile away lol...but I can get it delivered in 10 gallon splash cans or 55 gallon drum.

It's fantastic. I'm slowly turning up the boost now that the ethanol content is getting closer to 85. Can't wait to get some better tires!

Right on, tire will help but at that horsepower you got to have skills lol. I'm looking forward to your review and the stories of your exploits at the track. You and Mr. Todd are my heroes lol!!!

THIS has got to be the most exciting fillups ever. Not only is it an amazing car at the gas station, but then they see the e85 sex happening in front of them and have to wonder "wtf is that thing!!?" :D Can't wait. I think I might drive a few miles and go fill up again when she's home. LOL

Hotrodz 09-13-2015 10:50 AM

I will be ordering fuel so it is waiting for me when I get back on Monday morning!!! I love pop corn...

G37Some 09-13-2015 07:48 PM

what kind of MPG do you guys get after e85 conversion?

yes yes yes, smiles per gallon - i know. but just curious.

djtodd 09-13-2015 07:50 PM

16-17

Note: that's normal driving. Mix of city and highway. I can get better with the fuel save map and keeping my foot out of it. But...who wants to do that :)

Damn cy! Why's it staying so low? Is that just what happens depending on the quality of gas or is the pump gas from the road trip STILL trying to make it's way out?

I drove back on 91 just slowly adding e85 to it.

Around here it varies from 79-89 pretty regularly.

Wow.......that is a pretty big difference! Do you have a flex fuel sensor and such installed? Or do you have to switch maps to make the magic happen?

TerribleONE 09-15-2015 09:12 AM

I don't have a ethanol content gauge since I only run E85 however in my dads GTR I have yet to see anything over e E78. We probably get the short end of the stick with that in CA just like our 91.

that's crazy man. Gotta wonder what the "other" content is that makes up the difference. Guess theres no other cleaner way though, pump gas can only be worse.

its like that here in the dmv area too, highest I've seen was around 82% but usually its like 77/78%
