Did the transmission hold up fine?

totally not saying this to Tommy directly, but I wonder how many times FI has to put together all this information, spend an hour answering questions, only to never hear from the "buyer" again. My god it must get frustrating.

Funny thing though, first time I talked to Kevin, you would have thought it was the first time he got to talk about. Was excited, answered all my qs and even gave insight on what he thinks I should upgrade to get to the goals I'm looking for. FI is a freakin unicorn to the customer service world today.

none taken. but you have to think about how much is the FI system. and how much commitment you putting down to get your Z FI. with all the additional maintenance and upkeep. more or less its like buying a new car..

Tommy, my advice would be to call them.
1) it's always easier to have a serious discussion (assuming you are serious and not a tire kicker), and
2) there are a lot of decisions that can affect the total price at the end of the day. They can walk you through those on the phone

Great forum and great feedback on the product. I'd like anyone's opinion on the bare minimum mods that would be required for this kit on a bone stock 2014 7AT model. No high whp targets in mind. Just want to maintain reliability as my daily driver. I drive approximately 7 miles round trip daily in urban traffic.

Take it from me, plan for what you think you want and then do a little more, it will save you time and money. I thought I would be satisfied with around 500whp...not, whp is dope you always want more and my comute is 6 miles...but it starts and ends my day with a big A$$ Smile.:D

Assume $15k minimum, more like $20k, and then an additional $5-8k for the I popped my motor fund.

tweZ74 07-29-2015 01:54 PM

Thanks! What does the $20k include? The kit, oil cooler, tranny upgrade, breaks, springs, labor?

Welcome Bob ... You've taken the first step towards Recovery OR Fulfillment

Hotrodz 07-29-2015 03:23 PM

I would probably kick it up at least another 5k as it will cost more to twin turbo an auto due to transmission upgrades. Automatics always cost more!

About everything you just mention but add at least another 5-8k for if and when the motor goes boom. Also the tuning is very important!

Ditto on the importance of the Tune ... anybody gone with EcuTek yet?

G37Some 07-29-2015 09:51 PM

Level Ten tranny is roughly $4k ($1500 refundable core charge). labor will vary by shop. but, if the tranny is already out due to other factors, f*ck it and just do it. no idea what FI will offer with regards to tranny builds and pricing.

ps I arranged for a tranny to be built saturday like 10 mins before they closed. they had one in shop ready to go. They built it monday/tuesday and shipped it out today. amazing service.

Didn't realize you were automatic. My number assumed $1,500-2,000 for clutch/flywheel/CSC upgrade so add another $3kish for AT upgrade.

Did I miss it , did you guys post any info on the trany upgrade and the fly wheel ?

Hotrodz 07-30-2015 01:13 PM

No there has been no publishing of prices yet for automatics by FI...we are making assumptions based on the current market place.

What he said. :iagree:

If I had to guess what FI brings to market will be slightly more expensive than alternate options but their quality typically backs up their price:tup:

brucelidat 07-30-2015 01:58 PM

Fast Intentions will be less than the Bulletproof option because they're just upgrading the flexplate and clutchpacks and not rebuilding the entire tranny. I am expecting somewhere in the 2-3k rnage

tweZ74 07-30-2015 02:08 PM

That would be great considering the overall cost of the kit, plus upgrades, plus labor puts you in the GTR price range!

Labor is free if you do it yourself:tup:

Well it might cost you beer and pizza money for help from a buddy or two:rofl2:

Then that's not an apple-apple comparison of options

Not even close, but even so with the FI kit and 600 to 650whp I will take that option over a GTR strictly talking dollars and cents. Most don't have a clue how much it costs to mod a GTR and get the same whp gains compared to a 370z.

critical 07-30-2015 04:59 PM

i hear the maintenance is a joke on the gtr...regardless if you diy.

brucelidat 07-30-2015 05:42 PM

a new Z full modded with FI TT might be as much as an older used GT-r, but that's not apples to apples, and also doesn't take into consideration maintenance and mod cost for the gt-r.

And now you've got a car that is faster than a GT-R, looks better than a GT-R and costs less to maintain. Plus consider this, would you rather a used stock car, or a brand new, aftermarket, no longer little brother, panty dropper, permanent smile machine that is the TT 370z :D :happydance:

Sweet Momma! I love the CF hood. I'm trying so hard to go back and forth with just keeping Work Vs-xx wheels and being done or adding carbon fiber to the car. That pearl white just looks so damn pretty with it, but I also don't want to mess with perfection. UGH. Idk wtf I want when it comes to looks.
