Nixlimited's TT Thread

Dropped the car off at GTM today for some winter twin turbo treatments. Got to see GTM's brand new Mustang dyno, and found out that Firehawk and I will get the dubious honors of having some of the first heartbreak numbers on our FI builds. More details, pictures, and such to follow, and as Mike sees fit.

OK, so here is the baseline dyno on a Mustang Dyno including my stock exhaust (not F.I.) - 271 WHP / 224 WTQ

Tell me about it. Too much vacillating between SC and TT. New kits every other day. Finally found the combo of attributes I wanted.

Mr&Mrs 12-29-2012 12:01 AM

I know, so what did you end up choosing?

One of GTM's Mitsu-based TT kits with a bunch of other goodies.

Mr&Mrs 12-29-2012 02:34 PM

Sweet are you going to be the first one on the forum with that setup?

I think the first one with it on a Z and with the particular configuration. My car is pretty much stock other than FI exhaust in terms of power adders, so it will be nice to get to see a true baseline. I brought my OEM exhaust up too so they could get baselines with that and the FI.

Mr&Mrs 12-29-2012 03:02 PM

Thats great cant wait for the results. Those turbos are very stout I expect good numbers.

Correct.

Congrats on the upgrade! Definitely interested to see what those 16g can do!

Mr.Squeeze 12-29-2012 08:02 PM

Sweet! That's awesome to here bro. I was there the day b4 the dyno was going in and can't wait to see the difference on that dyno vs the dynojet I was on b4. Now my Z has another garage buddy  keep us posted on the progress my man

Sh0velMan 01-02-2013 10:15 AM

I thought they hadn't started selling the TD05 kits yet?

I have plans in the works to get one of those installs this year...have been waiting on pricing, availability and final power envelope data.

Once all that is in the open I'll call up GTM and talk with them about my application, since the off the shelf kit wouldn't be appropriate for what I'm doing...

In for more details!

Regarding the TD05 kits, I would call GTM for more info, but I know that my car and at least one other Z are meant to be test-ish cars for the platform so that GTM has more data points on the performance of the kits. I say test-ish only because I think designs of the kits are basically done, but there are not many installed yet.

Nixlimited 02-03-2013 01:06 PM

Small update. Finally got the car on the new Mustang dyno at GTM. Put down 265 WHP. Heartbreak indeed. Car is basically stock in terms of power except FI exhaust.

Mr&Mrs 02-03-2013 01:15 PM

Looks like this new dyno is a heart breaker for sure. The real goodies will be the upgraded number we see. That is all a dyno is for anyway, baseline and final number. Trap speed is king!

SS_Firehawk 02-03-2013 01:18 PM

Just found your thread. Yeah, this dyno is gives no courtesy reach arounds, uses no lube, and takes penis enlargement pills on it's unsuspecting victims. Mine put down 270whp. That's only a few whp more than my stock number on a dynojet. Well at least I had someone to share my pain lol. Can't wait to see how it performs on your car! The turbo kit, not the Mustang dyno rapeage.

Many thanks! Your post about your cats failing has got me thinking about what my cat plans should be... Have a message out to Tony@FI to see about their HFCs, but I have never head of HFCs faring better than OEM cats with force induction added.

SS_Firehawk 02-04-2013 04:50 PM

Having cats further down stream will definitely preserve them. Removing the stock cats for HFC's will definitely help relieve some back pressure. I'm thinking of keeping my HFC on because unlike your turbo setup, these superchargers need some back pressure to keep them spinning in their sweet spot. At least that's how I under stand it. Those F.I. cats on the exhaust system are 150 CEL FYI.

swiss370Z 02-04-2013 04:51 PM

Hey Nixlimited

I think you have to necessarily go with HFC in the near future ...

But:
We in Switzerland have very high standards and our exhaust catalysts are (made especially for Europe) something special...and not hold the "extra" power!

Trying to ride with you the original and if they break, then switch to "Tony" from F.I!!

Greetings

Nixlimited 02-04-2013 06:03 PM

Yeah, I just do not want to create a situation where the cats fail and cause a major blockage. Then you would get a whole bunch of reversion and other nastiness. I'm concerned if I go with cats farther down the line, it will throw CELs.

Nixlimited 02-15-2013 09:31 PM

Updated first post with pictures of baseline dyno, Defi gauge install, and EBCS install.

showme99 02-15-2013 10:09 PM

Those are some sweet gauges! Good call on putting them in the stock locations.

Gauges look sweet I have the same ones in my

Fix the crooked one on the left though lol nice work

SS_Firehawk 02-16-2013 09:53 AM

Hey Nix, GTM sent me the Mustang Dyno results, he may be able to send yours as well. I updated my thread on it, but it was better than the quoted numbers. 290/223, 12.46AFR

Did you see my Mustang Dyno in the first post?

SS_Firehawk 02-16-2013 12:05 PM

haha, no. I got mine yesterday morning, failed to check your OP, only looked on your last page.

Edit: I'm trying to figure out why my torque numbers are so low compared to my whp. We are nearly the same in tq, my car just breaths better, especially up top. Either your doing really good, or I'm not haha. It was the same on a dynojet as well. Anyways, I thinkI'm going to copy your gauges down the road. I like them.

You have some mods on your car, right? Mine is bone stock presently (for power adders). They took off the F.I. exhaust to get a true baseline. Explains why our TQ is similar but you are getting better WHP.

I love the gauges too. The car should come that way.

So that is a completely stock baseline. My torque numbers suck :( Makes me questions more about what is going on under my hood lol. So how soon till your car is done?

Correct, completely stock baseline. I wouldn't worry about your numbers too much. Dynos are relative measurement tools, not absolute. Plus, I think your numbers make sense. As you can see, max TQ is during midrange. Your mods are mostly effective at high RPM, which is what gives you more HP than me. Needless to stay, when you have twin blowers in there, it's gonna rock hard.

No idea when it will be done, but looking forward to it. Don't want to rush GTM. Want it done right, not quickly.

future370zzz 03-23-2013 11:17 AM

Nice going! I am debating between the defi gauges and brockway dgauge. Defi looks better, but Dgauge is plug n play. Don't know if I will have room for boost controller, racelogic and dgauge displays. Haha

Nix, where is the boost controller mounted? Armrest cubby? Nice controller btw...top of the line.

Get the Defi gauges they have a OEM look to them and are simple plug and play I have the same ones .

I also have Racelogic .

future370zzz 03-23-2013 02:26 PM

You got PM Mr Squeeze

Yep, that's right. You can mount it where the seat heater switches are, but I wanted a more stealth look.

Definitely get Defi. I have never been disappointed with them.

N8GTOL 03-23-2013 08:53 PM

Nice setup so far! Can't wait to see your results on the 16gs. Did you do the gauge swap yourself or did GTM do that for you?

I'm in SD also so we need to meet up when you get the car back from GTM so that you can take me for a boosted test drive.
